From what we’ve seen of the Galrans, they seem to be pretty misogynistic (we haven’t seen any female Galrans, especially army Galrans until season three) 

So on that assumption, women aren’t allowed in the Galra army 

Enter in baby Lotor, a young female Galran and heir to the throne... kind of

Obviously young Lotor, who has been shown to have differing opinions than Zarkon, would want to challenge the sexist ways in order to be a validated leader

so Lotor surrounds himself with strong females like him (at the time) who are strong, capable, and also half-Galran 

I’m sure Haggar and Zarkon are pissed because, “just because you’re a half-breed doesn’t mean you should surround yourself with others”

Lotor does not care

Again going off the misogynistic Galran society, Lotor is more or less shunned for being trans and people blame the “weak Altean blood” in him

Luckily Lotor has a fantastic group of friends around him who don’t judge because they were all harassed for being themselves

Zethrid because she was always mocked for not being “girly enough”

Narti for being both blind and mute

Acxa for the odd, unGalran-like bumps on her head

and Ezor for being too colorful to be Galra

They’re there for him when he starts bonding and helps him to cope when he struggles with disphoria 

So Lotor comes out to his parents only to be exiled for it

He still has his status and power, but uses the exile to be fully transitioned in some fancy high-tech space hospital that has the best equipment 

then he starts taking over planets for the Galran empire, probably against his father’s wishes, to gain followers and respect

Lotor will become the next Emperor of the Galrans no matter what it takes and he won’t let bigotry stand in his way

Start of season 3 is his big reveal to the Galran masses as a fully transitioned male and he’s loving his life

She's just so cool.. originally she was a lesbian in a fanfic i was making but I never finished it, and then I remember other characters existed again and I was looking at rarepairs of my girl and... your honor some of them are good.. so uh... she's bi now. No one knew she wasn't before but still Anyway...
