Some days were much harder than others. Some days he thought were going to be easy, but ended up being much, much harder than he’d thought they would be.

He had thought today was going to be a good day.

Boy had he been wrong.

He woken up tangled in a lump in the blankets, John spooning him from behind with his nose pressed against the crook of his neck. Definitely his favorite way to wake up.

They’d made breakfast together. Eggs and toast. Nothing fancy, but breakfast wasn’t supposed to be.

The rest of the morning was spent in comfortable near silence. They played quiet music and stayed in the living room together. Brian was reading a book while John fiddled with Roger’s stupid old polaroid camera that seemed to be falling apart and would most likely be easier to scrap and then buy another one.

The trouble started when they decided they needed to go pick up milk from the store because they’d run out three days ago and hadn’t done a single thing about it since John had used the last of it to make a bowl of cereal. They went to a coffee shop before hand, just because they could. And theirs was broken, but that was a different story.

As they were walking to the shops, though, Brian saw someone that he knew from a few years back. That he’d known since before he was out. 

Unfortunately, they seemed to notice him too.

“Brianna?”

“Oh. Hey, Eric. And it’s Brian now.”

“Brian? You mean you’re one of those fucking trannies?” His face curled into a sneer. “That’s disgusting. You’re disgusting.”

“Piss off, won’t you?” John stepped forward.

“He’s a blunder of God, a mis-” He didn’t get much further before John took the coffee that he still held in his hand and threw it at him, watching it explode all over him.

He stomped off, yelling insults over his shoulder at them until they were out of ear range.

“Brimi? Bri, love?” He asked softly, turning to see the rather heartbreakingly sad look on his face.

“I.. I just…”

“Oh, love.” He grabbed his hand and pulled him off to a quiet side of the street before pulling him into a tight hug, chin tucked onto his shoulder and humming to him quietly. “He’s a prick.”

“What.. do you think he’s right?” He whispered.

“Brian Harold May, you listen to me now. You are not a mistake, the things that you have come to understand about yourself are not mistakes. You were born into the wrong body, but you’ve come to understand that and I’m so proud of you for that. So, no. He wasn’t right. Okay?”

“Okay…”

“Say it.”

“He wasn’t right.”

“That’s better. Now. How about we go home and have a cuddle.”

“The milk?”

“Screw the milk. We’ll get it tomorrow.”

Jay gave Bria all of his old clothes since Jay likes to wear clothes bigger for him they fit Bria, and Bria gave Jay her old clothes.
