Houston, Tranquility Base here, the Eagle has landed... The Apollo 11 mission made headline news and was on the cover of LIFE magazine for weeks on end. This photo was taken after the 151 minutes long lunar spacewalk and shows the stars & stripes on the lunar surface. The flag had a horizontal fold-out gold-anodized support rod in order to give it a waving appearance.
