Megatron most likely lost his Carrier (Lunar Claw), because his Sire(Megalock) killed her in front of him due to pure rage because what she tried to do with Megatron by the time he was still much younger.
Orion and he DID NOT know each other by this time either.
And by this time, Megatron didn't even exactly have an proper name either. They just called him "Bun-Bun" or a thing.
Megalock left the area after to cool off, leaving young Megatron, or so called Bun-Bun by this time with a lifeless body of his Carrier there alone with him and he didn't know what to do. He just sat there beside her, laid there, staying by her, Waiting.. waiting and hoping she will wake up finally even after hours, and Megalock wasn't back yet either and the poor young thing still hasn't moved from the spot much either, just HOPING she would wake up.

In other words:
Megalock used Megatron in ways to make Him(MT) hate him(ML). Whether it being by emotional abuse or even physical abuse. Or even denying his needs and stuff he wanted and needed when he was younger. But that was mainly due to because he didn't want Megatron to feel abandoned when he had to leave him, not because of him, but because of his own actions and fear of what he did.
But before anything bad happened, Megatron was mainly taught to fear kindness from his own Sire.
But as time went on, Megalock succeeded in creating... whatever this was with his own child.
Ending with him in his own rabbit hole if we may call it that in which we can call his doom of his own fate that he has created upon himself because Megatron has total hatred for him even ever since despite knowing why he did all of that; Whether it being to just protect him or doing all of that on purpose or for pure amusement only.
But that is now beside the point. Megatron was found by.. we could call them like Gaurd Bots or something after Megalock left him. And just a reminder, all of that was when he was still young. All that happened when he was still merely a Sparkling in some way.
You may think that he was kinda hard to 'catch' too. You know how rabbits are, they run if there is danger but they might also just freeze out of the fear. He did NOT know what to do when they arrived and that exactly happened. He froze in place and tripped on his own feet and fell only to get caught and sent somewhere where most or some other younger bots were in a lower level.
And in by that time when he was brought there.. he was met with no one else but Orion Pax himself. A cheerful little librarian that worked there, often as a helping miner too when needed. Later on he was met with Ariel (Later known as Elita-1 for those who don't know who she is.) too but that was when Orion introduced him over himself.
And by this time, Megatron was given a simple name. D-364. Merely a random number as a code name or what number of bot he is there randomly. He wasn't pleased with it but that's what he gets for not having a proper name or saying he was called by Bun-Bun. But Orion decided to nickname him 'Dee-Dee' which he found annoying at start but got used to it at some given point. Later on he was THEN named as D-16 because of a sector he worked in and he liked that name more actually because he did work a lot, despite how he was. And yaah, Orion still called him by Dee-Dee
Speaking of that, how he was when he was younger you may ask? Well- complicated story. He was quite the shy bot, not so talkative or social at all or someone who liked being around a lot others, and also very distant from others. Even with Orion or Ariel. He just felt... different from others with how he looked. Not same or similar frame design, he didn't have an alt mode but he looked like he had one due to the so called and 'beloved'.. bunny features he had. Merely the Bunny ears and A Tail. Some bots found it cute, some found it weird, some even mocked him about it. Orion on the other hand? He LOVED that stuff with D-16. Always with him, begging him to touch them or pat them, but always ending with a simple and short reply "No".
