Jonathan Coulton - First of May (Unua de Majo)
Tradukita al esperanto
I woke up this morning
(Äi-matene mi vekiÄis)
I had a scone and a large house blend
(ManÄis skonon kaj kafotasā)
And then a little conversation with my squirrel and chipmunk friends
(Tiam mi paroladis kun miaj sciuredaj kaj tamiasaj amikoj)
I said I'm sick and tired of winter
(Mi diris āVintro enuigas)
And I wish that it was spring
(Kaj mi deziras estus printempoā)
And then a little fellow named Robin Redbreast
(Tiam eta ulo nomita Rubekolo RuÄbrusto)
Began to sing
(Ekkantis)
And he sang
(Kantis li:)
Ooh ooh child, what'd you think the cold winter's gonna last forever?
(Oo ido, Äu vi pensas la malvarma vintro daÅros senfine?)
Ooh ooh child, now's the time for all the people to get together
Outside
(Ekstere)
Cause it's the first of May, first of May
Outdoor fucking starts today
(Ekstera fikado elas hodiaÅ)
So bring your favorite lady
(Do alkonduki vian plej Åatatan injon)
Or at least your favorite lay
(AÅ almenaÅ vian plej Åatatan fikamikon)
The water's not cold baby dip in your big toe
Maybe I'll see you in flagrante delicto
(Eble mi vidos vin in flagrante delicto)
Grass below you, sky above
(Herbo sube, Äielo supre)
Celebrate spring with a crazy little thing called fucking outside
(Festu printempon per freneza ago nomta eksterfikado)
I thanked him for the information
(Mi dankis lin por la informaĵo)
I cried a little when he flew away
(Mi ploretis kiam li forflugis)
I watched an episode of The People's Court
And I tried to plan my day
(Kaj mi provis plani mian tagon)
I called up my old lady
(Mi telefonis mian amulinon)
She wasn't home so I called my girl
(Åi ne hejmis do mi telefonis mian koramikinon)
I asked her if she'd like to join me as I
(Mi demandis Äu Åi volus kunesti mi)
Entertain the world
(Dum mi amuzas la mondon)
And I said
(Kaj diris mi)
Ooh ooh child, I'll bring a blanket and I promise I will brush the ants off
(Oo ido, mi portos la litkovrilon kaj promesas forbati la formikojn)
Ooh ooh child, you're gonna like it when we're taking each other's pants off
Outside
(Ekstere)
Cause it's the first of May, first of May
Outdoor fucking starts today
(Ekstera fikado elas hodiaÅ)
So bring your favorite lady
(Do alkonduki vian plej Åatatan injon)
Or at least your favorite lay
(AÅ almenaÅ vian plej Åatatan fikamikon)
The water's not cold baby dip in your big toe
Maybe I'll see you in flagrante delicto
(Eble mi vidos vin in flagrante delicto)
Grass below you, sky above
(Herbo sube, Äielo supre)
Celebrate spring with a crazy little thing called fucking outside
(Festu printempon per freneza ago nomta eksterfikado)
So we went to the park together
(Ni kune iris al la parko)
We were walking in the midday sun
(Ni promenadis sub la tagmeza suno)
We met all kinds of people and we
(Ni renkontis Äian homon)
We fucked everyone
(Kaj ni fikis Äiujn)
We fucked a lady who sells ice cream
(Ni fikis la glaciaĵvendantan virinon)
We fucked a man with a tan Shar Pei
(Ni fikis viron kun bruna Åar Pej)
Everyone who needed fucking well they
(Tiuj, kiuj bezonis fekiÄi, nu)
They got fucked today
(Ili fekiÄis hodiaÅ)
So come on
(Do venu)
Ooh ooh child, open your mind and your heart, feel the spirit moving through you
(Oo ido, malfermu vian menson kaj koron, sentu la spiriton trairante vin)
Ooh ooh child, you'll feel the warmth of the love when I stick it to you
Outside
(Ekstere)
Cause it's the first of May, first of May
Outdoor fucking starts today
(Ekstera fikado elas hodiaÅ)
So bring your favorite lady
(Do alkonduki vian plej Åatatan injon)
Or at least your favorite lay
(AÅ almenaÅ vian plej Åatatan fikamikon)
The water's not cold baby dip in your big toe

(Eble mi vidos vin in flagrante delicto)
Grass below you, sky above
(Herbo sube, Äielo supre)
Celebrate spring with a crazy little thing called fucking outside
(Festu printempon per freneza ago nomita eksterfikado)
Notes:
1) Esperanto doesnāt have a word that matches this sense of the EnglishĀ āchild.ā I used idoĀ because it means offspring, but not necessarily young offspring (as infanoĀ does).
2) I probably missed a few accusatives because itās almost midnight and when Iām sleepy, accusatives are the first to go.
3) Also the, āOld Ladyā joke doesnāt really work, so I tried to make a word that could feasibly be a girlfriend orĀ a mother.
4) āIn flagrante delictoāĀ is a Latin phrase and therefore is untranslated.
5) I used festiĀ instead of celebri or soleniĀ because celebriĀ and soleniĀ both refer to religious events.Ā
6) I translatedĀ āThe Peopleās CourtāĀ ācuz I figured itās an obscure enough reference that leaving it in English wouldnāt help anything. Also, Iām uncertain ifĀ āepisodeā should be considered an independent noun or a unit of measure.
