WHY I THINK ONE WAS WRITTEN FINE IN TPOT 23 AND NOT NERFED TO HELL AND BACK
I'm going to quickly preface this rant by saying that I understand where the idea that One was nerfed came from and I hold no ill will against the people who believe that and people are entitled to their own opinions so please don't come at me but it feels like some people lack any decent media literacy about this or just haven't been watching the show.
One's inability to control her emotions as soon as something goes wrong is something we've seen MULTIPLE TIMES throughout the show before Tpot23. We saw it in both her encounters with Donut, we saw it with Leafy and we saw it with Three. She's easy to anger and prone to making irrational, ill thought out and usually violent decisions because of her extreme emotions. It's what pushed her to rip off Donuts legs when he refused her deal and kill Three when she told the others about the yoyelite. During the conflict in Tpot23 One goes into that already angry with it being made worse when X refuses to hand over their powers, she's unstable and not thinking clearly. This leads to her not using her powers effectively and just charging blindly at the group rather then coming up with any sort of strategy to take them out. Compare that to the objects who are scared but overall much more level headed and able to come up with a strategy to survive and eventually run enough laps around her for her to decide it isn't worth it and go fuck off and bother Announcer's ship.
One is a villain that thrives of isolating her victims and using quick shows of power to invoke enough fear to quickly manipulate them into doing what she wants. As soon as any of the people she kidnaps takes a second to question or stand up to her she quickly falls apart because she has no backup and it becomes quickly apparent that she is not what she builds herself up to be and we see this CLEARLY with her encounters with Donut and Leafy. Leafy almost immediately throws her off script with her speech about niceness while Donut has the sense to actually try and look at the contract, both times One kinda flails and panics, her victims aren't responding how she expected so she goes to her fallback for when things don't go her way, direct violence. And to be fair the both of them get off the best out of everyone's first encounters, Donut did get his leg ripped off but he immediately got them back from Yellow Face while Leafy was teleported out directly and neither of them were under contract.
Honestly none of the algebranians can really hold themselves in combat except maybe Fourteen and that's mostly because he has a knife. We've watched these guys get BODIED by the objects multiple times, Two by everyone in Tpot 1, Four by Braclety and David in Tpot 11 and Pencil in Tpot 19 just to name a few examples off the top of my head. To the algebranians any sort of violence is a big deal and most of them would probably rather solve problems amongst themselves with out it. Meanwhile the objects are fist fighting and murdering each other over the smallest inconvenience without much of a care, the guy you killed yesterday is your bestie helping you with a challenge the next day. We mostly see this with One with, I bring up again, Donut and Leafy. Leafy runs absolute laps around One with her actual combat experience from being hunted down for two seasons (depending on when she gets rehabilitated in IDFB) and probably could have done some decent damage had she actually tried to fight One. Meanwhile Donut manages to get a full hit off on her in his first encounter and almost does it again in their second with power he gained less then a couple hours ago.
Frankly ya'll are underestimating the contestants strength sometimes, they have pulled of some impressive feats for the amount of power they have purely through the cartoonish logic of the show. Frankly I think I just need to point to most episodes of BFDIA for you to get my point here there's at least one ridiculous feat in pretty much every episode of that season. They will casually fight someone with far more raw power with them and win then shrug it off because that's just a regular Tuesday for them.
TLDR
One is emotionally unstable as fuck and is unable to use her power effectively due to being unable to think clearly
She can't handle any of her victims going slightly off script leading to more emotional instability
None of the algebranians can fight for shit and get regularly bodied by the objects in a fistfight
This sort of power imbalance in a fight is a regular Tuesday for the objects and they react accordingly
Thankyou for coming to my Ted Talk
I am now realising this is kinda all over the place but I don't care enough to look back over it or format it any better on account of it being almost midnight.
