I think this question is more of a theory, but hereβs the thing: if Lawrence appears as a Lich (in skeletal form) in real life, will his human body show up on the astral plane of the river? I know itβs confusing, but I just think itβs interesting to share this idea
Thatβs an interesting idea! My personal opinion is that what shows up in the river is whatever you (subconsciously or consciously) associate with yourself.
During the time of BTD2, he was human in the river because he was human in regular life; itβs all he knew at that point.
He knew he wasnβt the same after his visits (he was decaying), but because he could never figure out how to stay in the river long term, it had little visible effect. That is, until he did stay there long termβ for a very long time, until TPOF.
Once Law returned to the physical world to see why so many people were dying (Mason), he realized how much his body had decayed. His head was missing. Thatβs when he found the deer skull he has. When he returns to the river, he might still have a human form if he was attached to that part of him, but something tells me heβs notβ
His bio also says he was human, once. Which makes me assume heβs accepted his lich form, and therefore sees something similar in the river.
Although, I think itβs something more in between, like this:
A form that may be inconsistent, constantly shifting or changing. I should also mention that the river works differently than the physical plane does, so itβs theoretically possible for forms to change or alternate, because the river doesnβt follow our rules.
