Night—cold and silent night! Cedars of Solomon, Oaks of Teutates; you cloud-divers, you Seance-recorders; magi, seers, sorcerers, Terrible men; refuges, forests, solitudes; Ombos where scholars live in hollow tombs […] Sleep—the dim intersection between dream And chasm, the white vent of apparitions; Germs, avatars, nocturnal incarnations Where angels fly away but monsters wallow; Death, nature’s black bridge between star and star, Through which human communicates with heaven; Colossus of Minerva Apteros.
VICTOR HUGO — Six French Poets of the Nineteenth Century, transl. by A.M. Blackmore & E.H. Blackmore, (2009)
Today's roller coaster is...
Toutatis! (Parc Astérix)
Taranis, Toutatis, and Esus were a triad of Celtic gods worshipped in Roman Britain and Gaul.
Taranis (”Thunder”) was a thunder god, who held a wheel and a thunderbolt.
Toutatis (”Tribe”) possibly had a role as a tribal protector, and was associated with Mercury by later writers.
Esus (”Lord”) may have been a god of war and strength, and was later associated with Mars.
