This tournament will be done somewhat similar to the first one, but also somewhat different. Here's how:
We will start, as we did last time, with all the characters randomized and put into polls of 3. There will be two batches of 11 polls followed by one batch of 12 polls, for a combined total of 34 polls.
Characters will be ranked by vote count within the winners AND losers groups.
The top 13 winners will receive a spot in round 2 of the winners bracket.
The other 21 winners, plus the top 17 losers, will receive spots in the first round of the winners bracket, for a total of 51 winners bracket characters.
The other 51 losers will be seeded into the losers bracket. Of this group, the top 13 will receive byes, and the other 38 will compete in the first round.
Any ties will be broken by a tiebreaker round.
All above colored groups will receive randomized seeding within the groups.
After the first round of the losers bracket (L1), the 19 winners will advance, and we will go to the first round of the winners bracket (W1). The 19 winners of that round will advance in the winners bracket, and the 19 losers will drop to the losers bracket to battle the 19 winners of L1 in round L2, and the winners of that round will move on to round L3.
The pattern in the previous step will continue through the entire tournament.
Other rules will remain the same:
All polls will last one week, except tiebreaker and bonus polls, which will last a day.
Any tiebreakers in the first round will be used solely to break the tie, and not counted towards the characters' official vote counts.
The first round will be staggered, so at some point, the first batch might be about to expire while the second is in the middle and the third is just kicking off.
When we get to the bracket phase, the batches and rounds will also be staggered as we are able. When we get down to 8 polls per batch or less, obviously it will be harder to stagger.
Character descriptions will be differentiated by color. The first poll is below, to determine which three colors I should use for the first round.
