I have definitely decided on my next breed if I were to choose to get another dog. I am still kind of iffy on whether or not I will ever HAVE another dog, but at least I know I won’t fall victim to randomly waking up in six months and having someone go, “my neighbor just had pup-” “GIVE ME A DOG I NEED A DOG YES I WANT THIS PUPPY!”
Spent some quality time with Tootles today. It’s supremely weird that he is now the only dog in the house, and I know that we never bonded the way Sophie and I did, but I DO love him, and I don’t want to be resentful of him for not being Sophie.
Tomorrow, I will return Sophie’s specially formulated kidney food so that it can go to a doggy in need whose owners have struggled financially. And I will ask about Sophie’s paw print stone, which is almost due.
And yes, today I got the staples out of my head from the concussion, and my first thought was how when they put them in, Sophie was still alive. And yes I cried. And yes, I pretended it was from pain.
Apparently I CAN lie, under proper duress.
Bought Simon some new toys to play with today, because he still seems really out of sorts. did not get anything for Tootles, who has NEVER been into toys, and is usually only into What Do Simon and Sophie Have That I Don’t Have. still, he seems to be trying to fill the gap in his own way, he keeps trying to make me chase him, and he’s usually super lazy.
Cried twice today for real this time. Still not through the first week. All of this sucks so badly.
