My opinion about Rosamund's advice to Mary
When I ask someone what they think about Rosamund, it happens that they often answer: "I don't like her, because of her fault, Mary and Matthew had less time together."
I personally don't agree, I don't think it was her fault at all. The definition of advice is: "guidance or recommendations offered with regard to prudent future action".Β
My question is: When someone gives you advice, do you feel forced to take it? No.Β
Mary had the choice. I don't think she took the advice thinking "If I don't act as Rosamund says she would never talk to me again".Β
I think Mary listened to her aunt, she thought about it, and took her decision by herself, because she was free to do whatever she wanted.Β
And if someone feels like Rosamund would be mad at Mary for not taking her advice, (that idea makes me laugh, I find it ridiculous, sorry) I feel like they watched a completely different series.Β
Rosamund used to know when she wasn't the protagonist and respected the others' decisions. She respected Edith's choice, even if she didn't agree, and supported her till the very end. She tried to convince her to tell Cora and Robert (some people forget about that too, but that's for another post) but she knew that it wasn't her secret to tell.Β
To sum up, I don't think It was Rosamund's fault and, also, I think that is not fair to make her responsable of Mary's decision.Β
