“I saw the ingredients you stole from Slughorn’s potions closet,” said Harry, voice hard as steel and just as unyielding. “I know what you’re doing.” Shit. It was the worst possible roadblock for Tom, especially now that he was so close to having everything he needed for the Horcrux ritual. His Knights saw Harry as foolish and headstrong, with a recklessness ill-befitting his green tie, but Tom knew better. Behind his cavalier attitude and messy uniform, Harry had proven to be far sharper than he let on, interfering with too many of Tom’s careful plans as if he knew exactly what Tom had been aiming for all along. But Tom was never one to take a challenge lying down. “Oh?” responded Tom, doing his best to smirk casually even as his heart raced in his chest. “What am I doing, then? Enlighten me as to my master plan.” Harry opened his mouth, then shut it. With growing confusion, Tom watched Harry’s face begin to flush pink. “Uh, wow,” said Harry, voice weak. “I didn’t think you’d be brave enough to talk about it. It’s making me feel kind of bad about starting this conversation, honestly.” “I have nothing to be ashamed of,” said Tom quietly, tilting his head. Perhaps Harry had finally seen the glory of Tom’s plans. Perhaps he’d soon find himself bowing to Lord Voldemort. Though it didn’t quite explain why Harry looked so strangely guilty… “I’ll do whatever I need to do in pursuit of my goals. No taunting from you will ever stop me.” “You know what? You’re right,” sighed Harry, running a hand through his hair. “I shouldn’t have shamed you. Everybody has performance issues sometimes.” Tom blinked once. He blinked again. “Performance issues?” Tom asked, fighting to keep his voice steady. “You know,” said Harry, looking horribly awkward. He mimed something strange with his fist, an odd back and forth motion. “A lot of guys have problems there. It was wrong of me to make fun of you for it. Good on you for brewing a solution.” “Have problems there?” “You know,” repeated Harry, somehow even redder than he had been. Tom shook his head — he did not know. “Erectile dysfunction?” whispered Harry, eyes briefly darting downwards. Tom’s vision went white for a moment. “I don’t have performance issues!” shouted Tom, remembering a second too late to control his volume. “My penis is perfectly functional.” “It’s normal!” cried out Harry, eyes wide and pleading. Was that pity in his expression? “I shouldn’t have brought it up!” “I’m not brewing myself a cure for erectile dysfunction,” hissed Tom. “Get the foolish notion out of your mind this second.” “Of course you’re not,” said Harry, voice insultingly placating, as if humoring a rebellious child. “I must have seen someone else grabbing boomslang skin and hippogriff feathers from the potions closet.” Tom couldn’t stand the thought of Harry believing he had a broken dick any longer. “If you must know,” whispered Tom, glancing around. “I need the ingredients to make a Horcrux. Happy now?” Harry blinked rapidly from behind his spectacles. Tom prayed he understood, prayed he would drop the whole thing. “You’re making a Horcrux?” said Harry, voice suddenly cold. Shit. Scratch everything before. Now this was the worst case scenario for Tom.
