That aside, this paper is a lot of fun! It's a nicely written, good psychoanalytical analysis of epilepsy in Dostoevskij, in The idiot in particular, with a solid interpretation at its base, which already puts it above the usual oedipal readings where the author delights in finding symbols of the conflict, without any further thought of the meaning such a conflict might have. Here the author looks at homosexual dynamics between male characters as an exemplification of Dostoevsky's attempts at writing direct human contact and perfect harmony, because it removes conflict between men, and of course a psychoanalysis cannot discuss homosexuality without touching on the fear of castration, phallic symbols (a book is of course a vagina! duh) and the oedipal complex
