I think what makes Black so shippable as a character is that despite being so closed off he has so many deep relationships with people. He pushed Eugene away because he cared about her too much to see her get hurt. Gram is comfortable being touchy and playful with him despite Black not letting anyone else act like that towards him. Todd's "if you could turn back time would you kill me?" "We can't kill each other Black" Gumpa knew White was pretending to be Black because his hands felt different like what.

was thinking a lot about a Not Me fic that takes place 3-4 years after the series because I'm still clowning on Todd/Black and you know what would be a great trope for them? the villain turns up on his nemesis' doorstep bruised and bloody, says, 'I didn't know where else to go' and then collapses. hell yeah.

The Active Threat
I'm not quite sure if this is a real trope per-say, but I find it be deeply compelling.
Series where one of the main love interests is an inherently deeply dangerous individual, regardless of if that is intentional or not, has to grapple with the threat of violence and their love for someone else? Yeah. Give me that.
Even if it's just a background element, I still find it to be very compelling. It's super toxic, absolutely, and I would never wish that upon my worst enemy irl but like...in fiction? Yeah, sure! Let one of the leads be a threat to themselves and others.

At any given moment either of those two were perfectly capable of murdering Kant and Style. I loved the push and pull of the assassin brother's thoughts as they fight their urge to murder their BFs.

Yeah okay, they aren't canon but I love my toxic yaoi.
All three main couples in Kinnporsche fall into this trope to some extent. With VegasPete, it is much more apparent, but even with KimPorchay, Kim and his lifestyle is an active threat to Porchay's safety, and I can tell you that Kim KNOWS that.
SunJunior (Caged Again)
SUN. WANTS. TO. EAT. JUNIOR. How more obvious can I get about the threat Sun has over Junior!?!?? To be honest, I think it would have been fire if Sun devoured Junior all Beastars style, but I'm happy with how fluffy Caged Again actually is.
Tan (Dead Friend Forever)
While PheeJin both tried to make it out of the situation alive, Phee and Tan's plans made them both an active threat to EVERYONE in that house, including Jin.
BabeCharlie (Pit Babe)
Charlie's power stealing abilities make his touch an active threat to Babe's safety. In this case, the danger is not intentional, but it still has far reaching implications for their relationship.
