1. Vegas's apparent death

i went into this show with zero prior knowledge of the genre or the plot (other than that it was gay, lmao), and i was sure this was a permadeath. that's what happens in gay shows, right? the guys die 🫠

the way this scene gutted me. lord. you all know how much vegas means to me, he literally changed my life, and when i thought that the show had killed him... i don't even know how to describe it. it was brutal. thank the bl gods that he ended up surviving.

2. Pharm/In meeting his sister

i couldn't find gifs of this scene, so i rewatched it to get screenshots. and guess what? it immediately made me cry again 🫠🫠 this scene has been living rent free in my mind for years. i will never be over it.

the first time i watched it, i was on the train, and it was one of the only two (2) times that a show has made me cry in public so far. familial relationships just Get to me in a way that romantic relationships usually don't.

3. "Love for your body, love for your soul"

and this was the second time a show made me cry on a train!!

i was in a quite fragile place when i watched this, i was barely out to anyone at the time, i constantly felt the need to hide my true self. and then this show said, what if queerness means love for ourselves? what if it's not about loving anyone else, being accepted by anyone else, but having the courage to love ourselves the way we are? to let ourselves grow in a direction that makes us happy?

this scene literally changed me. it gave me the courage to start living as myself. (while looking for gifs or screenshots i found my own post i made right after watching the episode where i talk more about this scene here)

you two already posted so many pretty and iconic kisses, so while compiling this list i tried to find some that hadn't been mentioned yet—i'm also ignoring kinnporsche for the purposes of this post, otherwise almost all the kisses would just be kpts kisses 😅 the bad buddy rooftop kiss is also out because like. we all know that was Thee kiss of all time! 💖

Bad Guy My Boss

there are so many pretty kisses in bgmb. one of my other favorites is the one at the hotel, but this first fantasy sequence really has bewitched me body and soul. there's so much raw desire. i could watch this scene every day and never get bored.

Your Sky

again, so many pretty kisses in this show, but this sequence especially stood out to me. it's the awe on fah's face that does it for me. goosebumps.

My Magic Prophecy

i keep thinking of this kiss where they both can't stop laughing. this is true love to me.

Love Sea

this is still my favorite intimate scene of all time, and this kiss is just. god. enchanting. so full of lust, mutual desire, magnetism... fort and peat are unmatched imo.

Enchanté

the desperate hunger after eight whole episodes of slow burn... this kiss has burned itself into my heart. it's my favorite fb kiss even after all this time.

Be My Favorite

this isn't their first kiss, but it's the first time kawi initiates intimacy, the first time he lets himself give into his desire to kiss this gorgeous man who loves him. this scene is so important to me.

Jack & Joker

like fortpeat, yin and war are another pairing whose kisses always look incredible. this one stood out to me emotionally simply because right before the kiss, jack told joke that he would rather die together with him than lose him. they both legitimately thought they were about to die. scene of all time.

The Eclipse

this is my favorite underwater kiss (even though it has become a trope used in SO many shows!), just because in this scene it's actually highly symbolic and meaningful for them to kiss underwater instead of just a pretty shot. that said, this shot is sooooo pretty.

Step By Step

this show was a mess and i wouldn't ever recommend it but the car scene will ALWAYS be famous.

by far the most playful first kiss of all time. it's just so full of innocence and joy! 🥰

i chose some more niche shows for this one (in addition to the heavy hitters) because i would love for more people to watch them and talk about them—in my opinion, bad guy my boss, love alert and mystique in the mirror are incredibly underrated.

1. KinnPorsche

it was the summer of 2022 and everyone on my tumblr timeline was talking about this show called kinnporsche. i had no idea that bl existed or what it was, but from the gifs alone i knew i would be obsessed with this show. so i waited until after my work contract at the time ended and i was in between jobs in order to watch this, and good thing i did, because i subsequently spent several months living, breathing and thinking of nothing but kinnporsche (among other things, i produced two fan translations into different languages and the best and longest fanfiction i've written to date). someone recently described the experience of watching kp as "holy shit, you are allowed to do that in a story?!" and that is exactly how i felt. kp was like nothing i had ever seen before, and it blew my freaking mind. vegaspete are still revolutionary to me (someday, i might write that essay, but not right now). kp changed the way i approached my life, my art and my own identity as a queer person.

and through watching kp and getting into the fandom, i learned that there were more shows like it, and many of them available on youtube, and my journey into the world of bl began.

2. Until We Meet Again

uwma came up in the recommendations for new bl fans over and over again, so i chose this as my second bl show. i must confess, i am by no means a fan of this show. i found it long-winded, at times boring, and i am not a fan of any of the couples (EDIT: holy shit i can't believe i forgot about kornin while writing this post! i did love kornin!)—but the beginning and the ending of the show were so impactful, and there was a scene in the middle that honest to god made me cry in public when i made the mistake of watching this show on the train (the only other show that has managed this is be my favorite). so despite the general badness and the technical issues (of which this show had many), i found myself enamored by the genre: this was no kinnporsche, far from it, but there was something powerfully intriguing about it. that bl atmosphere that is now so familiar to me was something i genuinely wasn't used to as someone who had previously only watched western shows, and i found it strangely addicting.

3. The Eclipse

i watched several bl shows in quick succession after uwma (eg bad buddy, which i only really learned to appreciate recently and didn't enjoy too much on first watch; manner of death, which i thought was fine but didn't really stick with me), but the one that stands out in my memory is the eclipse. there is something emotionally raw about the eclipse that sucked me in, that has stayed with me over the years, and i keep meaning to go back and rewatch it now that i have a bit more context for thai politics and the genre of bl than when i first watched it. the one other show i really remember as one of my first gmmtv bls is never let me go, which was i think the first show i watched as it aired, but i don't really have a lot to say on it i think. generally, after uwma, i began slurping up bl shows as fast as i could, and it's all a bit muddled together in my memory. i think the eclipse is the one i want to revisit most from that time, though, so it gets the third slot on this tag game 😊
