01/03/2019 Today we started reading Tobira’s chapter 11, “日本の輸入の歴史”, Japan’s history of importation. It’s tightly packed chapter full of information about Japan’s history, and it explains how a lot of the things we now consider to be the essential parts of Japanese culture were actually originally imported to Japan from other countries, such as the kanji characters, tempura, and tea.
Not sure if I should go back to my college text book to relearn all of the stuff I forgot or if I should just move on to jlpt materials
Tobira: a gateway to advanced Japanese
This book is a really good one! I'd say it's for those whose level is from N3 on.
This book focuses on reading exercises from where you learn cultural and grammatical stuff.
Each lesson has a topic, some excercises to get you writing about that same topic, the main reading, a vocabulary list from that reading, some other smaller readings, more writing exercises, some pair work and grammar notes.
The only thing I don't like is the pair work cause I have no one to do that with. If you're self-studying that's not gonna be cool, but you can still go through the book and learn a lot of new things and most of the exercises can be done alone.
I really recommend this book! Here are some extra photos of it.
