Despite what many species believe, a Cybertronian's Alt mode doesn't have that much weight in their place in society. Oh plays a part, but not as much as one might think.
This is mostly due to how Cybertronians get their Alt modes. The moment they receive their Name, their fully ignited Sparks cause a Cybertronian's T-Cog to spin giving them their first Alt Mode. The bot in question has little to no say as to what he or shee will turn into. And given how sacred transformation is, it's rare for anybot to change their altmodes once they get one.
So you have bots like Perceptor, a civilian scientist that just so happens to have a two shoulder mounted double barrel fusion cannons
Toaster, who turned into a small roving drone that was a gladiator.
SixShot, a Six changer Warframe (armed with NUCLEAR FIRE BOMBS) that's a freaking office worker.
Powerglide, who turns into what most species would recognize as a civilian plane, is also a Frontline general whose tanked hits he really shouldn't be tanking
