Specifically it’s fun that Phantoms Dazai is out here like “the Other Dazais didn’t deserve what happened to them, I should have protected them, I should have been stronger” and getting smacked in the face with every reasonable person in a ten mile radius telling him that he didn’t deserve any of it either, that he can’t have that expectation of himself when he was literally a child that was being abused, nobody could reasonably expect him to save himself but he’s still taking blame for it all.

Dunno, I missed a six sentence sunday/Saturday a couple times so take this excerpt from this masterpiece will chapter 8.
I made myself sad with this chapter, specifically with how Dazai is dazed and lost and certain he’s still dreaming and trapped in the Bell Jar, certain that like some many realities either Chuuya will hurt him or vice versa and he puts his faith forward anyway.
He still trusts and lets himself be vulnerable even though he’s terrified and confused.
And Chuuya who’s been half frantic this whole time with worry, who masks it over with anger, is trying so hard to be a safe place for that faith to land.
Anyway sometimes I make myself sad. It’s fine.
