these are the elder phantoms - 13 godly beings created by accident as zios' tears mixed with the elements of the universe. besides zios himself, they were the oldest living things, predating even mira herself. zios was horrified and disgusted by what he had done, and shunned them away, leaving them to rot. the youngest of the sisters, bearing only a singular eye, was enraged by her creator abandoning her. she begged her sisters to join her in getting revenge against zios, but they thought her foolish. for all her sisters wanted was the love and affection of their creator, and they'd do anything to get it

the youngest was shunned away for her heresy, and so she fled to seek her revenge alone. she would later bring forth modern phantoms in her image, and become known as the Phantom Queen as for her sisters, in their desparation for zios' approval they merged into one being which they called "elys". in hopes that if zios couldn't love them all, he could love one. they surrendered most of their power to submit to him, and shifted their collective form to mimic the focus of zios' affection - their newest sister, mira
