I actually think that Leia is the one whose arc in the trilogy was leading to her being able to see Kylo (Ben) reconcile with her and his family. . . so, it's really sad that Carrie can't be here to finish out family saga.

i just saw it on a theory vid (i love those) - whiich was made even before TLJ- that it was Leia and Ben on the last movie that would have a moment/realization/arc cause, Anakin and his mom were important on episode I, which would finish up an arc
