Drowned Legacies Part 2:
Mesoamerica
Background | South America | North America
Mesoamerica appears to be a hotspot of pre-Columbian vampire activity, probably because the writers thought Aztec vampires were really cool. I mean, even the previously mentioned proto-Coast Salish Mictlantecuhtli ended up in Mexico (and is still there). I will go forward in this write-up assuming this has a lore reason. Also, the Aztec / Nahua make up the bulk of the representation. Assumedly either there are other Legacies unwritten or these Legacies may have gone by different names in different regions pre-colonization before consolidating in modern nights.
(The Children of Tenochtitlan - Cults of the Blood Gods; 2021)
The Drowned of Mesoamerica enjoyed relative power and ability to operate somewhat openly, akin to European Kindred prior to the First Inquisition. They achieved this through infiltration of human society, forming loyal Blood Cults to them that helped shelter them from reprisal. Some powerful Drowned even secured places as kings or other rulers. This allowed them to flourish, gain followers and ghouls, and to proliferate. Their stability crucially afforded them safety against the Garou (werewolves) and Bastet (werecats) of the region, a luxury that Drowned north and south of them did not have.
In modern nights the Drowned of Mesoamerica are reduced in number and power, as are all Drowned, suppressed by the Cainites that now run rampant across the continent. Despite this, the Drowned here have maintained some of their presence and all Kindred in the metropolitan areas of Mexico are familiar with at least a few Drowned. With the collapse of many of the Sabbat's power structures this region and those to the south, the Drowned have taken this opportunity to expand their influence once again. These Legacies have also spread out into North, Central, and South America.

There’s not enough love for the more obscure Bloodlines. Who doesn’t like some Tlacique representation in your VtM Chronicles?
Clan Tlacique for WoDzine
So, I’m a budding Vampire: The Masquerade nerd. That’s the LARP I go to. And I’ve mentioned it before, but the clans that best fit Fabian are the Lasombra and the Followers of Set. 616 Fabian would be a Lasombra first and a Setite second, but TAS (cartoon) Fabian is a Setite through and through. It lines up super well with his cartoon canon story, in fact? With how he ends up leading a Mayan cult to Apocalypse? The Setites are Egyptian in origin, but they have a Mesoamerican bloodline, the Tlacique. Apocalypse originates from Egypt, but was taken for many deities in many cultures, including Set to the Egyptians. The god Set is Egyptian, but the Setites believe he wore many masks to many cultures. It all lines up! So my idea here is Fabian starts out a standard Setite, but after his attempt to overthrow and kill his leader (Magneto) fails, he flees and gets shockingly taken in by the Tlacique at the orders of their Elder (Apocalypse) and now he’s risen to being their high priest and sorcerer! He’d probably have to be Latin American in this version, since the Tlacique have some very good reasons not to care for Spaniards, but since Fabian’s national origins are never stated in canon anyway, that’s easily flexed around! I tried to make his costume incorporate bits of authentic Mayan and Ancient Egyptian, but lean more towards just plain fantasy and the goofy getup he wore in the cartoon. I’d like to avoid demonizing any real world cultures with “yeah! evil vampires do this!” And a little upside-down cross for extra edginess. You gotta have that in a White Wolf game! Notes: - The flail he’s holding there was an Ancient Egyptian symbol of power! - His face paint is meant to kinda evoke Apocalypse’s facial markings :) - The thing in his hand is a heart, since taking the hearts out of bodies is something Setites can do, some keep their own in jars and stuff for safety!....don’t think this is his or for safety, though. - Fun fact, red hair is considered a symbol of Set’s favor and some Setites henna their hair red! Fabs is a blessed boy! =D - I FORGOT TO GIVE HIM FANGS. IT’S A FUCKING VAMPIRE VERSE AND I FORGOT THE FANGS WTFFF DJGGJDGKKGS …I’m sorry about all this text for one dumb sketch’s context. I can’t even believe it if you read all this nerdery ><
