How far in advance do you know approximately what the final line of your WIP will be?

I always love your asks and appreciate them.. even though I am always late at answering them. 💛

So most of the time I have a vague idea on what happens in the ending. If I stick to the theme/idea then I would already have a vague idea on what the last line would be, but if I don't have an idea or it changes, it usually happens around close to the end of the novel.

For my first question of 2024: If you had no choice but to adapt your story into a different setting, where would you take it? Do you think changing the setting would even be possible, or is it too closely tied to your plot?

After some thinking, I think A Knights' Loyalty could work as an urban fantasy at a college or something. Magic is pretty important to the story so it would need to stay but I would be able to work around so many things. Obviously the main story and worldbuilding would have to be altered but it could work.

Only issue is that it would become a different story entirely so it wouldn't fully adapt.
