I know i'm in theatre school when...

Today i turned to my friend in my wwii class and was like

"yah i don't really know what was happening during studio today...she was like, 'lady bracknell...' and suddenly i turned into a bear-cow...ox.."

seriously, funniest stuff ever. I couldn't even stay engaged in the work without just losing it completely. Humans of course, are very animalistic. and as a way to enter a character's physicality and mentality, it's good to look at it as another animal for exploration. We've been doing this with Fritz since our first year in character.

so i was given the character lady bracknell from oscar wilde's the importance of being earnest. we had no idea what character we'd be given because it was done on the spot, but we had to morph into the animal version of this character and have a "conversation improv" with another character. So friend James is goes, "Lady Bracknell."  My first reaction is "Oh shit."

And sort of relishing in what I was about to say, I smile..."My dearest Cecily.."

I feel very much like a Bear, as Bracknell is a domineering, protective, maternal figure.. but suddenly i felt more cowlike..so I became a bear-cow. We've blended animals before. 

As i'm moo-roaring... I see James and his long, uber flexible limbs walking around...preening and prancing almost...like a flamingo?and we're doing this entire conversational improv as our characters with animal sounds and movement before morphing back into humans.

but im a cow-bear...ox?
