how has one single teacher managed to make me dread rehearsals so fucking much I genuinely don't understand
CONNOR STORRIE AT DON BLOOMFIELD ACTORS STUDIO YESTERDAY! x
Don Bloomfield Actors Studio (also known as The DBA Studio) is a Meisner Engineering acting school located in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, which was founded in 2015.
“Don I love you much! You fostered so much of my creativity and gave me the tools to be bold and be me ”
New drama class starting today. Wish me luck! I pray I don't tell another group of 8-12 year olds (which I was too old to be with, they just put me with the kids because I was dyspraxic) what The Magnus Archives is when I inevitably start drawing on my script, because that all happened last time, and let me tell you, I was stricken with such fear I'd get told off for scaring the kids by recommending them a horror podcast that even gives me chills.
hi lovelies. I’m putting this here so it can hopefully reach as many people as possible. please take a few minutes to have a quick read as this is something i’m very passionate about.
Over the last year I’ve been studying to achieve my cert IV in mental health which this month I have now completed and am qualified for. I did my prac as a mental health support worker at a community (after school hours) theatre school in my area. During the six weeks of my work placement (and a few weeks of volunteer work earlier in the year) I absolutely fell in love with it and I intend to continue my journey there through work or volunteer work. The students and staff at JETS are so hard working, dedicated and passionate about what they do. A good few of the assistant teachers are past students who have grown up attending this school and have so much passion that they wanted to pass on the skills and knowledge they’ve leaned over the years to other students.
Something that I find so incredible about JETS is the disability inclusion classes. There are two ability classes a week (acting/singing on thursdays and hiphop on fridays) where extra support is provided to students with all kinds of disabilities. Supporting the students at JETS is something that’s so incredibly important to the staff at JETS. There’s such an amazing team of teachers, disability support workers and mental health support workers that flow throughout every single class. They have students who range through early primary school up into adult classes and there is constant support for everyone no matter what stage of life they’re in.
JETS has been running for over 20 years now and during that time, they’ve been renting rooms in buildings to facilitate their classes, but over the last few years, it’s been getting more tricky to hold down one place. Finally, they’ve found somewhere that can be a forever home however, some changes need to be made to ensure it’s safe and accessible for all the students.
The building doesn’t have a disability accessible bathroom which is crucial for many of the students. A go fund me has been created for this reason. If you have a few dollars to spare, please consider donating or sharing the link to help support the students. Every dollar donated is greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone who is able to donate, share or even just take the time to read this post.
Mental health and disability awareness is something i’m so incredibly passionate about and seeing how much these kids adore performing and coming to their classes warms my heart like crazy. JETS is more than just a theatre school, it’s a family full of love, support and kindness.
I’ve attached both the go fund me link and JETS website so you can check out the incredible stuff they do.

i'll never get tired of being on a stage, of feeling the wood under my aching feet and the lights in my eyes and being hungry and thirsty when i'm on stage.
it's my favorite feeling and i love it so much.
thinking so fondly of that one time in acting school where i got to perform the nero and sporus scene from succession in front of a whole class of people who had heard of, but never actually seen, succession
