My biological clock is getting back to normal. Since I was in Florida I started to bring myself back by setting up my alarm clock to wake up early because I really enjoy the quietness of the morning for reading with a cup of coffee, chanting and practicing asana and pranayama. Now, I am starting to wake up early again with my own inner alarm to enjoy the silence, one of my favorite moments of the day. In Yoga tradition one is supposed to wake up 2 muhurtas before the sunrise (each muhurta is 48 minutes) which is equal to 1 hour and 36 minutes. This is known as the Brahma Muhurta time, which is ideal for practicing. It’s the sacred time, so the body can synchronize with the Sun and start the day with its light. The mind is already on a state where quietness and focus are easy to practice. The body might be a little stiff at that time that’s why it’s ideal to practice dynamic sequences such as Surya Namaskar. But overall, it’s the perfect time for Pranayama and Meditation. Once the Sun is up, the body’s heat and flexibility is increased but also the Agni or inner fire is, so our minds are more busy and our energy starts to move towards the solar plexus as it’s time for digestion. This is the reason why it’s not so convenient to practice when the Sun is too high.
