Ariel doesn't come across as particularly cold, though not warm either. Up until the Prince disappeared, she felt that she could afford to appear relaxed at this point in her life. She is easily irritated and punishes harshly, though not as harshly as she could -- all of her childer have survived their fledgling years. She tortures, but does not delight in it. Neither does she seem bothered by it. She's polite, but not nice. Aside from this, she's a classic hard-ass corporate climber type woman.
