#THISDAYINHISTORY, April 4, 1973: 🌇🎀 A ribbon-cutting ceremony is held in New York’s Lower Manhattan to dedicate the original #WorldTradeCenter. At 110 stories each, 1 WTC, or the North Tower, and 2 WTC, the South Tower, would provide nearly 10 million square feet of office space. Reaching more than a quarter of a mile into the sky, they were the tallest buildings in NYC, and for a brief period, the tallest in the world. But more than just architecture, the Twin Towers represented the power of New York City and the economic vigor of the United States. Sadly, the iconic structures are destroyed in the September 11, 2001 terror attacks. ______ 📸 Photo credit: AP ______ ⬆️ Click the link in our bio for more History Highlights. ______ #WorldTradeCenter #WTC #LowerManhattan #NewYork #NYC #skyscraper #landmark #Manhattan #onthisday #otd #april4 #1973 #1970s #70s #history #popculture #TimeRewind repost @timerewind https://www.instagram.com/p/CNS7SLZhUsL/?igshid=18xagwtu4prj6
