1. It feels like ‘forever’ has cracked open and spit Dick Grayson out, whole if not undamaged, here if not unchanged. It feels infinite.

2. Roy runs his other hand along that hand, lets his whole body fill with the awareness of Dick's touch. It's an awareness he's gone eleven long years without; he's not about to take it lightly now.

"The swear jar had been Dinah's idea, instituted after Ollie's last weekend watching Lian had resulted in ‘fucking fascist fucks!’ becoming his daughter's expression of choice. He'd gotten one very confused call from Lian's teachers, and then Ollie had made the whole situation worse (from a given definition of the word) by taking his 'favorite granddaughter' out for ice cream and teary-eyed pride-filled speeches. Dinah and Ollie's foster daughter Sin had promptly tried to replicate Lian’s accomplishment, and Dinah had given everyone mason jars with “swearing is caring” stenciled on them the next day.

👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!

Huntress: Breakdown starts with Helena getting out of prison after 5 years in Blackgate. She's been in prison because Bruce burned the Huntress - had her identity, past kills, and vigilante evidence leaked. At the time, Bruce offered Helena bat witness protection where she'd leave town and he'd furnish her with a new identity and bank account, arguing that given her history with the Mafia she was unlikely to survive behind bars. Helena chose prison over a life under his thumb and survived. Mafia head Sofia Gigante got James Cooper (Helena's ward from the 1989 Huntress series) out of town safely, to Helena's surprise and gratitude. That's important.

Helena gets out of prison and, with Sofia's backing, forms a team to take the Bat down and break his hold on Gotham for good. So far the team is Zinda Blake, Renee Montoya, Lady Shiva (Question Shiva team up!!!), and Selina but it's going to be bigger. Meanwhile, Charlie Gage-Radcliffe has taken up the mantle of the Huntress, that's also important.

It's HelSofia does Oceans 11 meets Monte Cristo and I'm so excited. This is going to be a bangfic project for next year so there should be art too.

From the next chapter of Wire/Timeout:

Roy's phone buzzes. He glances down to find two notifications. He opens the Team Arrow group chat first.

It's a picture of Hal's horrified face captioned ‘Helen got her swear jar.’ Roy laugh reacts and moves on to the second notification. It's Eddie.

“Saw your database login active,” Eddie writes. “Anything I can help with?”

Roy hesitates. He glances down at Dick. He doesn't want to damage their newly rebuilt trust, but if Eddie's seen his database searches then he might already know what Roy's looking for, and he doesn't see any harm in asking so long as he leaves Dick out of it entirely.

“Maybe. What's the deal with Slade Wilson and Arkham? Thought he was more the Blackgate type,” Roy responds.

“So did I,” Fyers answers. And then. “Waller tried to get him requisitioned to the squad and Arkham denied the transfer.”

“They can do that?”

“Apparently,” Fyers says. “Bones was having kittens about it.”

Roy's not particularly concerned with what Eddie's current boss, the DEO head, thinks. He's not going to be able to get into Arkham’s files and if he tries, it'll tip off Oracle and the Bats for sure. He'd prefer to avoid that outcome. “I'll let you know if I think of anything else.”

“You do that,” Eddie replies, never content to leave anyone else with the last word.

You get the Birds of Prey from an upcoming chapter of Wings on Command/MFB:

“I know it's a lot to ask,” Dinah says. “You and Babs have issues, and there's going to be others here but…”

“I'll look out for her,” Helena interrupts. She glances around at the other Birds, her gaze resting on the Bad Girls for a longer beat. “I'll look out for all of them. Of course I will.”

Dinah sighs, clearly relieved, and embraces the Huntress, who leans into the hug like she's trying to give Dinah a reason to come home safe. “It's good to have you back, Hels.”

“It's good to be back,” Helena admits fiercely.

Nearby, Zinda is cleaning her guns again. Barbara’s typing grows louder and more insistent.

I am not sure if this counts as fluff but have soft DickRoy from the next chapter of Wire/Timeout:

Dick blinks up at Roy from his arms. “You can stay, you know.”

“But–” Roy's not sure how to finish the sentence. He doesn't want to cross one of Dick's touch lines without meaning too.

“It'll be okay,” Dick reassures him. “I know it's you.”

So that post was talking about women making extremely bad decisions and crashing out due to grief. And I want that for Tanya Spears and the Defiance arc fallout because [beginning tag paste] I just think she deserves to have a crashout era about it made worse by the fact that everyone else on Team Defiance either knew it was a manipulation tactic or had an agenda or both - like yes they're all having their brains turned around by a master manipulator but no one else is experiencing it on the same level and in the same extent as she is because they all either have experience with his manipulation and so know on some level not to trust it or they're Wallace - he's arguably in the closest position to Tanya narratively (it's him or Rose) - but he has the Titan connection/mission/dubiously present support system and she explicitly doesn't get to have that.

And it goes south and she throws everything she's got into regaining her previous support system in Karen because it's the only way out she sees. Except there's immediate inadvertent retaliation from the team which leads to it for all effects and purposes destroying her. Like Tanya ends the Defiance arc as a presumed suicide who's actually alive but trapped in a void outside existence with Karen. Meaning that in a fucked up way she almost got what she wanted - her old mentor who wouldn't hurt her the way Slade does back - it just cost her life.

And then DC brought Karen back off page without Tanya and hasn't afaik so much as mentioned her at all since the Defiance arc wrapped :(. I infer she's back - because there's no way in hell Karen would've left her behind - and that she's hung up her suit/stopped heroing because of what happened with both her stay on the Titans and especially Defiance. I assume she's trying to put the whole experience out of mind, but what happens when she can't anymore, what happens when she has to Powergirl up and confront what happened head on?
