Sometimes I think about how I literally decided not to write fanfic when I was younger because I was worried that I wouldn't be able to write characters accurately.
Which stings even more when I see super successful novels/series that started as fanfic, and any deviation was actually a benefit rather than a problem.
Like. I could've had that. I could've had a ton more practice writing, I could've been bonding with friends over it, I could've been much further along in my writing journey by now.
But that's true of many areas of my life. So perhaps instead of whining about what I didn't do at points in my life up to and including, y'know, today, I should actually start doing those things.
Basically what I'm saying is maybe 2025 is the year I take some established universes and play around inside of them and see if I can't get some writing done that way and see what ideas flourish. Not that I don't have plenty of ideas of my own to work with, but having an established world and canon might help me focus more on plot so I can crank out an actual story instead of just a cool world I'd like to live in. Or see happen. Or whatever.
