It was Friday, October 7th and I'd been excited for that day for weeks. It was the weekend of two dear friends' and fellow Anti Tourists' wedding weekend and I'd been looking very forward to the nontraditional celebration. And I knew I had a second great weekend thereafter at Utopia Fest where my good friends' band, Wheeler Brothers, would be playing. I was taking Timber to the kennel for the weekend and he was excited for the car ride. Before he jumped into the car, he spotted a dog across our street that fancied him for some reason, and he bolted towards the four lane road.
It's not unusual for him to chase things; squirrels are his favorite, but there was something unusual about his determination to get this particular dog. I ran after him, yelling his name and he stopped in the middle of my driveway. I passed Lauren and Vicenzo leaving for work and Lauren smiled thinking, "There goes Timber again." He always turns back when I yell though. This time as I got to him, he bolted directly into traffic and I knew my worst nightmare was happening right before my eyes......
