Ties that Bind- Sibling Dynamics
So here’s a snippet from Act two, where Thomas, the oldest son and Ebony the oldest daughter are having their first phone conversation In a few years. As the oldest, a lot of the responsibility falls to Thomas and one of those is getting the family together for the funeral.
Those responsibilities have of course plagued Thomas for the majority of his life starting from his teen years and ranging into adulthood. As such he’s also the sibling who’s more stunted socially, as he never really left their mother’s side.
Ebony, however, is a very vain and selfish person- the extent already evident when she receives the news of her mother’s passing. Unlike Thomas, Ebony couldn’t wait to leave the family and broke away in her late teens, going to pursue an acting and modeling career.
I kinda like the dynamic that’s setting up between the siblings, in some of my other works i write siblings who are very close knit so it’s fun to play around with a strained family dynamic.
Also my first couple of acts are really short...like a page and a half. I’m still learning what to put and what not to put in a script.
