We, as members of the LGBTQIA+ community are terrified. If Trump wins our rights and protections WILL be stripped away.

The idea of someone winning an election shouldn’t cause people to talk about what to do if their existence becomes illegal. But if Trump wins that could very well become a reality.

It won’t start out like that, it’ll be small. Our rights will be taken away one by one, then new laws will be made.

Our books will be banned on a country wide scale. LGBTQIA+ teachers and government officials will no longer be allowed to do these jobs.

Things will get worse and worse. And people will die, innocent people. All because one man got president.

Innocent people are killed every single day, whether it’s because of their, race, religion, sex, gender or orientation. This will get worse in the States if Trump wins.

Maybe people like me will have to wear a marker, to show who we are opening us up to even more hate, maybe we won’t.

But it’s a possibility. This has happened before, and I can already see parts of history repeating itself.

I’m terrified. I don’t know what to do, but I know I have to speak up. I have to talk about how scary this is, because I am a person, my friends are people.

There’s a trans kid who wants to be a doctor and help the sick, there’s a lesbian teen that wants to be a politician and change the world for the better, there’s a gay young adult in college who doesn’t know who they want to be just yet. There’s a queer old man who just wants to be with his family. There are so many amazing people who deserve to have equal rights.

We have futures, futures that under Trumps leadership, will become bleak.

If you can vote, I implore you to do so, your vote can save lives. If you can’t please talk to those you know that can. People’s lives may depend on it.
