🍷Par la glace de Dieu, Ce remarquable indigène tourbillonnant a pu voyager à travers le temps de nos arrières enfants, car il a bonne foi depuis qu’il a mangé son foie gras! 🍄 #throughtime #timetobeweird #weirdface #tourbillon #foiegras #foi #dieu #duciel #remarquable #funnyface (à Montreal, Quebec) https://www.instagram.com/p/CZzRt0hFHsQ/?utm_medium=tumblr
I decided to keep this one simple: Midday Sun (24 x 24”) is comprised of one of my favourite color combinations: blue and yellow. In this case, it’s mostly periwinkle blue, with deeper tones of that inky, translucent blue that I love (otherwise known as “blue Jean blue”, in my world). The yellow is mellow: shades of butter. There is no better way to describe it. It makes me feel like I’m basking in the light of a bright, midday sun, and I love the warmth. Heatwave is looming! Find her in my THROUGH TIME series (link in bio). 🧡❤️💜💙 #ClaireDesjardins #ThroughTime #ThroughTimeSeries #PeriwinkleBlue #ButterYellow #YellowAndBlue #BlueAndYellow #BuyArtOnline #SkyBlue (at Gore (Québec)) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPxt1TlpD6R/?utm_medium=tumblr
Good morning, sunshine! ☀️This painting is a little bit different from my usual (current) style. For one, I don’t usually paint with black, or at least not pure black like this. I also don’t tend to use graphic elements such as stripes… But here’s the story, in case you missed it (in my last post): this painting used to look different. I painted it in 2012, and then it spent some time in a vacation rental unit where it became scuffed and scratched over the years. I just brought it back into my studio with the intention of simply touching up the scratched spots, and ended up having my way with it… I added much more than the necessary “repair“! I painted the white stripes on top of the black background, and added a few more dabs of colour in the center. It used to be called “Talk a Lot“. I think I will call it “Talk a Lot More“ now, because I added more to it. I love the graphic nature of the b&w stripes… so fun! She’ll be in my THROUGH TIME series shortly (link in bio). Until then, please feel free to message me if interested! Have a grrrrreat day! Hear me RAWRRRR!!! 🧡❤️💜💙 #ClaireDesjardins #ThroughTime #ThroughTimeseries #MoreThanJustRepairs #IGotCarriedAway #Stripes #BlackAndWhiteStripes (at Gore (Québec)) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPQLZCRJpVj/?utm_medium=tumblr

This painting is called “I Said I’m Sorry”. I painted it at a point in my life when things were somewhat tumultuous. Thankfully, my life has taken on a more stable direction, as I learn (and continue to learn) how to take control of my life. One big step: I am not afraid to ask for things that I want (most of the time). I have come to realize that the worst people can do, is to say no, and that if I don’t ask, it’s 100% certain that I won’t get whatever it is that I desire (and I would then be living for someone else). So yes, “I Said I’m Sorry“, and that is where it ends– not my empathy, but my willingness to unquestioningly bow to others’ whims. I am a stronger person than I used to be, and that feels good. This painting is a badge of honor, and it lives in my series called THROUGH TIME (link in bio). 🧡❤️💜💙 #ClaireDesjardins #MovedOn #ChartreuseGreen #ThroughTime #ThroughTimeseries #Circle #Blue #Green #BuyArtOnline #WallArt #OriginalPainting (at Gore (Québec)) https://www.instagram.com/p/CD7QewiJqc4/?igshid=nk88a4aobhrp
I painted a whole series of paintings in this style, when I first left the corporate marketing world, and started my life as a professional artist. It was the first time that I consciously painted an actual “series of paintings”. Now, of course, I do it all the time. The series didn’t have a name though, and it wasn’t until a couple of years later that I decided to call it THROUGH TIME. Above Zero has a retro 70s feel to it, and it reminds me of a colourful side mirror of a car. This piece is part of my Memorial Day Weekend 2020 sale: I’m taking 20% off all paintings that I created in 2016 and before, to make room for new works! 🧡❤️💜💙 #ClaireDesjardins #MemorialDayWeekendSale #ArtSale #ThroughTime #ThroughTimeSeries #Magenta #Pink #HotPink (at Gore (Québec)) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAm5rjJpX9O/?igshid=m532nt8oqf0a
A Brief History of Learning Disabilities, Part 1: From Napoleon to 1970 Samuel A Kirk is widely recognised as the first person to use the term “learning disability.” He was referring to children who had normal intellectual capabilities. Their hindrance to learning was not any lack of ability regarding intelligence. These children had a brain-based …
