While science fiction may or may not get things right, it at least should get us thinking about our impact on the rest of the universe. While there may or may not be "intelligent" life beyond Earth, it is better that we think there might be and behave accordingly and positively. For sure, we should use every opportunity to have a positive impact on the rest of the universe. For sure we should make sure that whatever we do has no negative impact on the rest of the universe.
