Have you ever wondered whether to buy vintage or new? I got married two weeks ago. I did not have a big wedding, but still I had to have a wedding dress. I wanted to buy a unique piece for my big day. You probably all know I am huge vintage fan, so I was wondering if I should buy a new dress or get a vintage one. In most of the cases I prefer to buy vintage. And this is exactly what I did this time. I got an amazing ecru vintage crochet dress with beautiful lace detailing around the neck and the bottom. (I will make another blog post about how I picked my dress and why I chose this one). Anyways, without further ado lets get to my top 3 reasons why I would chose vintage:

Save some extra cash -  while it may be tempting to go to the boutique stores and get a new pieces of clothing, I believe that you can get the same style, or at least very similar piece in a vintage shop for less than a third of the money you would normally spend buying new. Even better deal if you can get it at a heavily discounted piece as low as a buck. 

Be unique - we all love to be unique. How do you feel when you get a new cardigan from a large store when thousands of other women also shop there? What’s the chance of meeting someone with exactly the same trow as you? If you thrift a one of a kind cardigan from say the 80s, and you dig it up, how many women do you think will have the same one? Close to none, I would say. So the next time you want to wear one of a kind clothing, think twice before you head to the large retailers. 

Quality over quantity -  When you enter a thrift shop, one thing to think about is how old that lovely t-shirt you  got your hands on is? How many times has the previous owner washed it? Probably hundreds of times? Still looks adorable? Then get it! This is a real testament for quality. So don’t pass it buy. Often times we get new pieces of clothing which easily fall apart of loose their shape after a couple of wears, or stitches come out. If you get a tee from a vintage shop, you will know that it will last you at least a few more years without breaking the bank and without falling apart.

Enjoying a sunny October day in Seattle is almost as rare as finding a like-new Splendid sweater in a thrift store.

So, yay for both!
