#three rats

               Three Rats is a short story and play, written and directed by Wilfredo Ma. Guerrero. The story is about a couple, and the husband's best friend. The story recounts betrayal and unfaithfulness among these three people. It revolves on the husband's figuring out his wife and his best friend’s love affair.

               The conversation between Nita and Gonzalo is short. One can glimpse the kind of relationship of the couple through the way they talked to each other. The couple has not been married that long. Adrian is looking at Nita; Gonzalo, on the other hand, is looking somewhere else. Adrian goes to Gonzalo’s house to borrow money from him. Adrian is fond of borrowing things from Gonzalo when they were in grade school. Adrian treats it as his own personal things. When he was asked if he has visited the house, his answers were quite different with the answers given by Nita. Thus, his suspicions were confirmed.

               Gonzalo poured the cyanide he prepared in Adrian’s cup. Nita was frightened at the thought that Adrian could be killed. Nita deceives Gonzalo for sleeping with her husband’s best friend. Gonzalo deceives Nita for making her believe that things are all right between them and plays innocent in the affair of his wife. Adrian has been deceiving both Gonzalo and Nita. He deceives Nita for making her believe that she is loved and cared for more than her wife could do to her.
