Humor in the Dark | Murad & Jody
The loud iron clang of the cell doors slid open, then slammed shut behind Murad as he was chucked to the ground, wincing as he slid across the cold floor a bit more. He grit his teeth, rubbing at his wrist and pushed himself to his feet, looking at the bars and the guard as he began to turn and walk away, âHey, letâs talk about this man. This whole Master Slave thing is pretty much outlawed everywhere, and Iâm one hundred percent certain it wasnât in the brochure. Though I didnât read the last page, but who reads the last page on those things? Itâs always like coupons to some shitty fast food placeââ As the guard began to leave, Murad ran for the gate and stuck his arm through.
âHey, Disney Villain Henchman can you come let me out? At least give me a new collar? This one clashes with my whole freedom vibe. Let my people go!â
He sighed, dropping back from the gate and looking around, hooking fingers through his belt loops, âAnd they said the American education system was fuckedâŚâ
He pulled the small vile of dirt from his pocket, running his thumb over it. The worst part was when they found it on him, they let him keep it because it wasnât a threat, it had no âpowerâ. They confirmed that there was no way heâd get back to his sister.
Jody had seen the new kid getting pretty much carried to the cells by the guards from his office window and descended the stairs soon enough to see them toss him inside and slam the door shut. Jody walked closer, hearing the new slave shout and then give up. Then take something out of his pocket. Something from home, Jody reckoned.
âTo be fair, Iâve been told Iâm more Disney Prince than Disney Villain. And never a henchman. Although, I do work for this place so I suppose I am complacent. I take zero pleasure in that...â
Jody tried a little humor of his own. He didnât call anyone over to open the cell just yet, but he was fairly sure the slave wasnât violent. But you never could tell. Heâd talk for a little before inviting him out. Jody had gone over his file this morning.
âMy nameâs Jody. Iâm the guidance counselor. Iâm sure you have a hell of a lot of questions, Murad.â
