Roman period Head of Apollo
Thracian Merman (Shark-man?)
The Ancient Greeks named their South Eastern European neighbors the Thracians. The soldiers of Thrace were particularly sought after as mercenaries, and eventually became a permanent Roman client-state. This illustration is based on depictions of Thracian peltast (light infantry man, named after their shield design), in the 5th to 4th century BC, and pottery finds depicting Thracian tattoos.

The return of a young Greek soldier who hugs his parents, in the village Mákri of Thrace. 1922. Rol Agency. (colorized by Giorgos Mpairamis - memories of the past in color)
My favourite detail from the photo is the father who waits discreetly for the son to be done hugging the mother, and has gathered flowers to welcome him back.
Not many know about it but Cyclops cave exists in my region Thrace, Maroneia, with the total passage length of approximately 2 km and expands to 10,000 m², with two entrances dividing it into two sections.

Greeks, Romans, and literally any culture that exists or has existed: Our god/s shall not be defied, they're powerful beings and above us humans, they're not your servants-
Thracians: We shoot arrows at the sky when it rains and threaten our god.
