Listing characters I think would get PISSED if they're in a lord of the rings conversation and someone says the "Why didn't they just take the Eagles to Mordor" thing alongside if they're likely to beat the person up or explain calmly
Jason Todd (DC)
The fucker who inspired this post, the beat up is rare unless he's having a particularly shit day or his famously bad history with his irl writers has a side effect on him.
If it gets to the point of a beat up, it's guaranteed not to be to the death unless you're the fuckass clown the comics and fandom alike would be better off without for at least a couple years (please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please please)
Gwen Tennyson (Ben 10)
She had great motivation not to beat up the people she found herself in this situation with since they were Ben on the first time and Kevin on the second, further testing is required.
Shadow the hedgehog (Sonic)
While not to the death yet he's beaten up Sonic over this a variety of times, in Shadow's defense Sonic keeps asking again and again to ragebait him, for anyone else he simply has his PowerPoint presentation at hand at any time.
Heavy (TF2)
I know his PhD is specifically on Russian literature, but he can enjoy other stuff, variety is the spice of life and also Scout had it coming.
Like in other cases were this happened he would've been glad to kill him, but Medic and Spy convinced him to simply break some of Scouts ribs and leave him concussed.
Hannibal Lecter (Thomas Harris books and their various adaptations)
I the list was a bit scarce in character where there's a high percentage of petty murder over this argument and Hannibal is the type of character who needs some occasions of being acknowledged as being a ridiculous freak instead of just a freakishly competent monster.
Jack Frost (Guardians of childhood)
Is this addition following Hannibal Lecter insane? Yes, moving on, we have bigger fish to fry.
The lore for the book series Guardians of Childhood (supposedly in the same universe as the movie Rise of the guardians despite some contradictions which would made them being the same universe make no sense) is, to say the least, bizarre, in social media statements after the movie you can find out that Jack (who famously in the movie spent practically his whole time as Jack Frost before the ending invisible to anyone who isn't a spirit due to people not believing he exists) met and befriended multiple historical figures such as Edgar Allan Poe and Nicholas II, I choose to believe the list also includes Tolkien, he would get defensive over the lore and explain calmly before starting a snowball fight.
