Summary: To pay his father's gambling debts, Kili was forced to sell himself. He had resigned himself to it and if he tried hard enough, he could ignore the shame and pain. But it was one thing to seduce and sleep with strangers and a completely different thing to do the same with his own uncle.
âWhy did he deserve it? Was it because of a disagreement? It happens that when temper rises, one does things they will regret when they have calmed down.â The city guard captain waited to see if Kili would say anything, but when he stayed silent, the captain went on. âWas it over past grudges? Both of you hailed from Ered Luin. How was your relationship with him there?â It took all of Kiliâs might not to react to that, but with the present reminder of how Thorinâs life was at stake, he managed to do just that. The city guard captain waited again and when he realized no respond was forthcoming, he began to shift restlessly. âOr,â he continued. âDid you kill him in self-defense when he abused you?â
âI have told you my witnesses are credible,â Thorinâs deep voice came just as Kili looked up in shock. When Kili chanced a glance at Thorin, the expression he saw could only be described as thunderous. A deep scowl marred his face and his gaze was positively piercing. Though he didnât resort to threats of violence, he conveyed his displeasure so effective that the city guards visibly cowered. âMy assistant saw with his own eyes the dwarf striking my sister-son, and that wasnât even the worst thing that was being done to him.â
âThat is true,â came a timid voice behind Thorin. It was only then that Kili noticed Ori. The poor dwarf was trembling nervously despite being flanked by his protective brothers. He was clearly afraid of speaking, but it only took a comforting pat from Dori to get him to go on. âI was on my way to the store to collect some documents. Kili usually did that for me, but he wasnât available at that time because he was sending a letter to his brother. So, I was surprised when at the shortcut I took I saw⌠I sawâŚâ Ori looked at Kili, eyes filled with fear.
