“I have told you my witnesses are credible,” Thorin’s deep voice came just as Kili looked up in shock. When Kili chanced a glance at Thorin, the expression he saw could only be described as thunderous. A deep scowl marred his face and his gaze was positively piercing. Though he didn’t resort to threats of violence, he conveyed his displeasure so effective that the city guards visibly cowered. “My assistant saw with his own eyes the dwarf striking my sister-son, and that wasn’t even the worst thing that was being done to him.”
