I took a course called Old English as part of my bachelor programme, and Psst, Seamus Heany’s translation of “Beowulf” is widely considered to be one of the best ones. Also, “The Battle of Maldon” is a must, though the beginning and ending of the poem has been lost. Also, check out “Judith” as well! Like most Anglo-Saxon poetry we only have some fragments remaining, but they’re still worth it. Also check out “Ohthere and Wulfstan”, “Cynewulf and Cyneheard” and “A Choice of Anglo-Saxon Verse”! :)
not me having one (1) braincell and typing simon armitage when i meant seamus heaney 🤡 but this is such a good list!!!! thank you so much marthe!!! @niphredils check this out!!
