Happened upon one of Edgar Rice Burroughs' "Barsoom" novels in the local library and found it a fun read. Kind of cliche'd today, but hey, its tropes are pretty much what jumpstarted the modern sci-fi genre.
I drew some sketches of one of the creatures that appeared in the book, called the Thoat, pretty much an eight-legged Martian 'horse' that the Green Martians ride on. I tried sticking to the book descriptions as much as I could (flat nail-less feet, broad tail, very wide mouth), though I went with a more camel-like aesthetic, rather fitting for the setting's desert-like regions.
I dunno, perhaps I might draw some of the other Barsoom critters if I come around to it.
On a side note, the weird cow-like things in Disney's "John Carter" were supposed to be the Thoats? Still...sort of fitting the book description but a rather weird design choice.
Behind the lines
Today I deleted my facebook page. I just could’t handle it anymore. It is impossible for me to simply speak with people, to contact them on any mater. And at the same time I am so freaking envious... I can see how other people communicate, how they behave, chat all the time, have fun and so on. The realization of your own insignificance is... well, it is tiresome. The part when you check your messages every day without any result is not the hardest one. The most annoying part is when I do get messages and just can’t make myself to answer them. And I can’t explain to this person, that it’s not that I dislike him or anything like that, I just can’t, as simple as that. So in the end of the day I make this bloody day unpleasant not just form me, but for other person as well.
