some more sketches for "swimming through fire"

Two more sketches for @thiswaycomessomethingwicked's fic series "swimming through fire"! The first one because that scene was just charming and adorable, the second one because I just really liked Baldir dropping by like "mum sent me, don't do anything stupid" and Éomer being like "why is your dead brother here".

After a few minutes Aragorn trails off. Says, ‘I’m not really sure how to do this.’

Boromir blinks. ‘Do what?’

Aragorn’s hands flutter. Which means very little to Boromir. But the situation is one he knows well enough. He sighs, with amusement, and says, ‘Normally you just ask. I don’t know what elves do, but normally you just have to ask.’

‘Right.’ [x]

Baldir shifts about in his bird form before lifting up from saddle and shifting back into his human form. Bones, sinews, organs appearing and adjusting themselves into the correct shape.

Gríma catches Éomer’s eye at this moment and watches curiosity and disgust rolls as waves across the man’s face.

‘What in the world—’ Éomer begins. [x]

1. If you were trapped on an island for the rest of your life what are the three books you’d bring with you?

I expect I’m never trapped on an island! And, besides, I have different answers to said question, depending on the mood. But anyway, I’d probably pick Don Quixote, Zweig’s The World of Yesterday (a book that breaks my very European heart, but at the same time is an eternal reminder of why reason must always prevail) and Galdós’ Fortunata and Jacinta.

2. Pick a television show or movie that you like but want to fix & how.

I’m going to pick Casablanca and make it all about Louis Renault. Wait, it’s already all about Louis Renault and singing La Marseillaise. No. Fix. Needed! :)

3. What is your ideal house or living situation?

Not very ambitious: I just want to go back to my hometown of Madrid and live there in a more or less decent place.

4. What is your favourite place you’ve visited?

Probably the Alhambra?

5. What is the top scandal that you follow and/or what is the one thing or person you keep tabs on?

I’m very very worried about next year’s European elections and all that surge of nationalists and extremists (see “reason must prevail” above). I’m not particularly keen of scandals.

6. Who do you occasionally facebook/internet stalk?

Opera singers and/or conductors. Several of them. I rarely dare to make a comment, though. I just want to know what they are thinking/doing now and then.

7. Frockcoat or banyan?

Frockcoat, but of course!

8. Who do you find most interesting - can be a historical figure, a fictional character, someone still alive etc.

You know I find Napoleon the most interesting figure to walk this earth, and bear in mind that interesting doesn’t mean I blindly idolize this person. In fact, deep inside of me I have the feeling that I wouldn’t like most of the historical figures I’ve been interested on, if I actually met them.

9. What is your favourite trope or cliche in fiction?

Probably the Tragic Hero. Must be the consecuence of being an opera lover, I don’t know.

10. What’s the weirdest/craziest/you-can’t-make-this-up thing that’s happened in your life? Can be either to you or to a friend etc.

It’s not exactly weird, but there’s a cute familiar story about my great-grandparents meeting each other when her shawl got tangled in one of the buttons of his jacket.

11. What’s your current goal, the thing you’re working towards?

Picking myself up after a very complicated Summer. Then, I’ll see.

I will accept this compliment but feel the need to be clear I never actually did the translation. I’m not wondering “Why did I do that?” but rather “Why did I want to?” (I mean Le Bonnet Vert is still a great resource but it’s not REALLY not worth doing a complete translation of)

1) fight them or fight for them

Only a madman would fight either of them. I’m definitely not mad so ‘fight for them’

2) on a scale of 1-10 how excited do I get when I see them

6 or 7 for Nanny Ogg and 8 for Grann perhaps. I mean the City Watch is my favourite Discworld series but Wyrd Sisters was my first Discworld story so the witches will always have a special place in my heart. (And Nanny is fun but overall Granny is the more interesting character)

3) would i smooch

I would hug Nanny and politely ask Granny Weatherwax if it would be OK if I shook her hand enthusiastically.

4) have I drawn/written about them/should i draw/write about them

I have not. I haven’t written DW at all and I have never had any idea what kind of fic I could write for them. My fanfic-brain is weird like that.

5) voice HC if they don’t have a voice already
