I feel so bad for not seeing this earlier because this is just disgusting. So I was scrolling on Instagram as I see a post about this Spanish Magazine that basically had a page to mock kpop. Now this isn’t suprising to at this point because people really just can’t expect the fact that people like other music than the top 40 hits of today/only listen to music that everyone knows. But once you start to disrespect the artists, that’s when it crosses the line for me and many others. Which is what this page was basically doing. So first of all fuck you for that. But what really got me riled up is the fact that they were mocking Kim Jonghyun and his passing last December. Like they didn’t even try to hide that shit, they made it obvious that they were making fun of it. That’s not okay at all. At all. Suicide is NOT a joke. Depression is NOT a joke. Mental Illnesses in general IS NOT A JOKE. And if you laughed at this, you can go ahead and block me because that’s just messed up. He deserves so much better then this, I’ve notice that since his passing there have been a few instances were he was mocked, like is that really something to laugh about? Hell I remember that month of December like it was yesterday, when I heard the news I literally broke, it was so hard to hear. I remember it being before school had even started, before first period, once we found out my friends and I spent most of first period in the bathroom crying our eyes out. Not only talking about him, but about everything really depression itself, about how we felt kind of silly for feeling this way about a man that we never personally knew. I remember talking about the fact that we sometimes don’t even tell others that we like kpop otherwise we get a million questions like why? how can you like that? you don’t even speak Korean? etc. I remember that month of December being a very hard one for me personally, nothing was going right and I felt like I was alone, miserable, nothing made me happy. I’m a huge fan of Christmas ask any of my friends or family, but last year it was a hard one. I remember being so down and my parents and others noticed that and you know what my dad asked me, when are you gonna stop being sad? I started to cry right afterward I couldn’t believe he asked me that, and take it that it was probably two days after hearing about Jonghyun’s passing. I had so many things on my plate at the time and to hear that made me feel even worse. I remember writing in my journal almost everyday because I felt like I had nobody to talk to. I was worried about graduation, knowing and apply to places I want to go after graduating, trying to pass my drivers test after trying to pass it for over a year of practice, I was also loosing my very first job because the store was closing down so I was trying to find another job, tests, presentation, just basically trying to get through life was/is hard. It was a living hell for what felt like forever. It lasted quite a while, but it eventually got easier. Kpop helped a lot, as well as my friends and family, but kpop makes me happy and I don’t understand how that is so hard to believe to non kpop fans. Like I just don’t get what’s the big deal about liking kpop, it’s a genre of music that some enjoy and others may not. That’s fine, you’re entitled to your own opinion, but once you start making fun of not only people who like it, but the artists themselves with stupid stereotypes and/or racists jokes that’s when it’s not okay whatsoever. Like at all. If you’ve read this whole thing, first off wow thanks for that, and secondly I’m sorry lol that was long. I may not speak many words aloud but I still have a lot to say.

I was at the bus stop today (it’s on a main road that’s in the countryside so not many buildings on it). I was the only one there apart from two girls. After a few minutes, they ask me very politely if they could play some music. I said I didn’t mind. They start quietly playing some classics, I’m talking #ThrowbackThursday stuff(yessss). They start dancing, nothing “sexual”, just having fun, laughing. So I just go back to my phone, just seeing them out the corner of my eye. After a few songs, out of nowhere, I hear “yeahhh work that ass” yelled, the dancing stops immediately and I look up. Across the road in the opposite bus stop is an old guy- not a grandpa but definitely past middle age. He’s got his phone out and is filming them whilst cat-calling these young girls. They’re looking at him horrified and one turns to the other, asking “what should we do?” The second says “I don’t know but let’s turn the music off and turn around so we’re not facing him”. He doesn’t stop filming them but starts laughing. I want to go over there but I’m scared myself- I’m not exactly a 30 year old buff guy that can punch the dude, and there’s literally no one else around, so I just yell to “piss off”, hoping it doesn’t aggravate him. He turns his phone off but doesn’t stop staring. The second girl calls her mum, asking her how long it’ll take to get here. They just stand there awkwardly, scared and not knowing what to do, so I go over to them and simply talk to them to try and get their mind off of it. They’re 14 and 15, and are going to the second girls house for a sleepover. A car pulls up and the two girls get in, it’s their mum I assume, as the car pulls away the man starts laughing again. My bus comes and I get on it, feeling so angry. I couldn’t do anything to help them.
