Can you share some head canons about Jon and Dany's relationship in "the fury"? Their political marriage is uncomfortable, plausible, and weirdly compelling. Kinda like a train wreck.
yeah!!
lol this amuses me because my characterization of dany and dany+jonâs relationship has been the #1 thing people dont like/have complained about with the fury. BUT WHATEVER im sticking to it. i wanted to tackle this relationship, what danyâs new reign would look like, and the starksâ reaction to it realistically.
so generally speaking, danyâs put jon through some Traumatic Shit (tm), thatâs made him unsure of her as a person. i absolutely do not believe that he and dany would have a perfectly fine relationship after she burned down kingâs landing. regardless of his feelings, trust is gone there. were he not worried about how she would retaliate against sansa for attempting to go against her/releasing information of jonâs parentage, and arya who was still in kingâs landing, he might have peaced out then and there
now, i also firmly believe that after the initial anger/adrenaline has passed, dany would regret her decision to burn down kingâs landing. itâs not something she can outright state, because it will undermine her crown and actions and likely insight ANOTHER rebellion. she knows she fucked up. jon lowkey knows she knows she fucked up. theyâre in a hotbed of bullshit of danyâs design.
SO SOME HEADCANONS. some that may or may not make it into the story proper:
danyâs not going to be magically cured of her infertility. if i ever write the fury sequel, them getting panicking about having an heir will be a chunk of it / a source of worry for Team Gendrya
dany really did only want to secure political alliances via stark girlsâ marriages and wouldnât have made them go through with it if they didnât want to. no harm in throwing dornish bachelors at them until one sticks, though
she doesnt ship gendrya--not because of any reasons to do with them as people--but she can see political opportunists arguing for a stark/baratheon throne and the stormlands border the crownlands
jon likely would have left if dany married gendry as well. heâs probably at a 98% done at all times
dany didnât super want to marry gendry, either. rather it was a thought she was entertaining/not something as fleshed out as sansa made it seem. sansa was trying to stir shit to get arya motivated/have the starks gain a foothold in the stormlands vs the targaryens
jon thinks about ned a lot as heâs appointed hand of the queen. he had his own private, freakout moment like arya did before the banquet
they donât sleep together for at least a year after kingâs landing is burned. probably more
danyâs advisors have suggested deposing jon and finding a husband from the reach instead (the north lost a lot of political/military power after The Long Night and sacking kingâs land). she wonât budge on this particular point
despite his hurt/mixed feelings, jon is always quick to defend dany in public---not always her actions, but her intentions for sure. he knows the importance of them being a united front
dany has plot immunity and will survive the events of the fury
I typed out this whole answer about how I donât really have any, but then I realized thatâs a lie: I totally do. Some of my original novels have their first drafts on Staples-brand spiral notecards. These guys:Â
It started because, before I wrote on my phone, I would find myself with a lot of downtime at work, and I wanted to write, but I didnât want my boss to think I was slacking. So I started writing on the notecards that I also used to take notes on the documents I was editing, so i was able to easily slip the novel work under the regular notes and look like I was just scribbling lots of notes to myself. Then, when I got home, I would work on copying them over to notebooks, which I would consider my second draft. I would type them up as my third.Â
So now, even though I write on my phone, sometimes I still do it. Usually if Iâm in fandom/working on fanfiction at the time, Iâll keep the original novels on the notecards at work and the fanfic on the phone, because itâs an easy way to separate the two mentalities. Also, once I transcribe the notecards, they all go into this box, no matter what the book is:Â
They have their own naming conventions at the top corner so i can tell them apart. And then when the book is fully transcribed, I put them all aside like this:Â
k so weâre back to 30s/40s au because I like that aesthetic: PI robb stark hasnât really ever recovered from losing his wife jeyne westerling in what turned out to be an attempt on his life that her mother paid for because she hated him that much and heâs sure he canât really fall for anyone else again never mind that he feels guilty af for jeyneâs death. on the anniversary of the attempt in question a new client walks into his office - miss asha greyjoyâs younger brother has been missing for months by now, her father seems to not give a shit and her mother is progressively losing it while her father keeps on not giving a shit and since there was a letter saying he was willingly leaving the police wonât do shit, so sheâs hiring him. robb accepts also because itâs a damned job and he starts asking stuff around - balon is Not Helpful and actually seems to be hiding something, alannys can only ask him to please find her son but isnât helpful either, he digs around a bit and finds out theon ran with bad company but still nothing that would mean disappearing and also his message sounds fake.
so he digs around some more, finds out that he had fallen in with this ramsay bolton guy, he asks his police contact and finds out ramsay was suspected of a few murders but somehow managed to always get out of it because of lack of evidence, he keeps on digging, finds some actual evidence that the evening theon disappeared he was supposed to do something with ramsay and his crowd, he considers his chances and then decides that fuck it, heâs infiltrating the place where he knows ramsayâs crew hangs out when theyâre all out of town. he waits for a day where theyâre off to do some crime that wonât be reported, slides into the place, looks around, finds evidence for other crimes until he hears strange noises and he finds theon chained in the basement not as bad off as adwd level but pretty bad off, so he gets him out but doesnât go to the police at once because theonâs really adamant that they shouldnât. so he goes to the office and makes sure he has a bath and new clothes and so on, then he calls asha âhey I have your brother this is the situationâ, she shows up and it goes over well but then sheâs like âyeah if I bring him home like this my momâs going to have a stroke and our father will lose his shit listen what if I pay you to keep an eye on him until this entire situation dies downâ, and robb whoâs not an asshole says yes and after the first few rough weeks they actually warm up to each other and theon realizes that no robb is actually a decent person and your usual load of obligatory h/c until they end up frenching each other months later and post-ramsayâs obligatory arrest/demise theon is like BUT DONâT YOU NEED A SECRETARY and robbâs like weeell yeah why not and then he realizes that maybe he has recovered from losing his first love after all (thatâs before he finds out heâs theonâs actual first himself *cough*) ;)
Not much, but I think the sincere appreciation of her skills by an older woman - particularly someone she respects. In an AU where Victoria Winslow from RED and Kingsman exist side-by-side, I can see Roxy as Victoriaâs eager pupil, a bit starry-eyed and in love.
16. Dark secrets/âskeletons in the closetâ
Hmm, good question. I think Roxy is terrified of failure. Thatâs why she âshotâ her dog. Someone gives her an order, she responds unquestioningly. But that sets up a chain of thought that is even more terrifying - is this an order that should be followed? What if the dog had been a child? Or a civilian? Is she just a trigger finger or does she have the right to use her own judgment? After all, war criminals will usually defend themselves by saying âI was just following orders.â

Awwww just saw your Jon and Missandei aesthetic. I'm guessing Dany is the person Missandei's mourning? And you love to kill of Robb, dontcha? ;-) I'm a sucker for bonding through shared trauma, but at a certain point, it gets messy...
Yes, Dany is the person sheâs mourning! Itâs definitely a fic that would have some darkness, but I love people being able to bond and heal together so it offers a lot of interesting opportunities.Â
Theon had warned her, but Sansa wasnât fully prepared for how much of a disaster dinner at the Greyjoys would be.
And after the third insult in ten minutes hurled at her boyfriend, Sansa struggles to remain cool. Theon has his arm around her chair, his fingers curled into her hair and that may be the only thing keeping her grounded.
Sansa takes in a deep breath, trying to stay calm. âTheon works with children every day - thatâs hard work and he does a great job with them.â His hand stills for a moment before sliding to land on her thigh. Sansa rests her hand on his as she takes a drink of water. âIâm proud of him.â
If her voice is sharp, itâs not completely her fault.
To her left, Yara clears her throat. âThe fish is really good, mum,â she says across the table, where Alannys sits, hunched over her meal.
âThank you,â says Theonâs mother, quietly, a quick glance to her husband before her gaze falls back to her daughter. âIâm happy to share the recipe with you.â
Yara scoffs. âBetter you give it to Dany,â she says, glancing over to her girlfriend, blonde and beautiful and smiling softly. âSheâs the better cook - â
âAt least one of you can pretend to have a cock in the relationship.â Balon throws back a shot of some brown alcoholic beverage that stinks just as much as his breath from across the table.
Sansa catches Yaraâs grip tightening on her fork out of the corner of her eye and Dany stiffening. Sansa supposes Yaraâs hand drifts below the table, maybe clutching at Danyâs and squeezing in comfort.Â
Meanwhile, Sansa isnât really sure if Theonâs hand on her thigh is to keep her calm or to keep him steady - maybe both. Gritting her teeth, Sansa plasters on a fake smile. âMaybe all of us ladies can get together sometime,â she says, pointedly focusing her attention on Alannys.
Alannys smiles, straightening, her gaze stronger. âI would love that.â She sends her gaze towards Yara and Dany. âMaybe all of us could get together - â
âAre you pregnant?â interrupts Balon. Heâs glaring straight at Sansa. âDoes my son,â he throws out the word like poison, like it disgusts him and Sansa doesnât know how much longer she can restrain herself, especially when Theon flinches beside her, âhave something on you? There is no way a boy like him could land a gorgeous thing like you - unless youâre as much of a slut as your aunt - â
âEnough!â Theonâs fists bang onto the table and Sansa canât even bother to flinch at the sudden noise. Instead, she immediately rests her hand on his shoulder. Exhaling deeply, Theon looks to his mother with a tight jaw and hard eyes. âThank you for dinner, but weâre leaving now.â
Sansa squeezes his shoulder and takes his hand instead when he stands, taking her with him. She ignores Balon completely and smiles at Yara and Dany. âWe should go on a double date sometime.â
Yara doesnât smile, eyes mirroring her brothers, but Dany sighs and nods. âDefinitely.â Her lips curl upward a little, not unkind, but itâs sad and defeated.
Sansa hates it.
Just when they push in their chairs and move to leave, Balon stands too. Sansa feels Theonâs chest against her back, hands still intertwined. She closes her eyes in preparation.
âNo son of my mine would just walk away - but youâre weak, always have been. Run away little boy - youâre not - â
âYou donât deserve him.â Sansa snaps, spinning to face the man - not Theonâs father, he doesnât deserve that title - hands quickly resting on Theonâs chest as his arms come around her. She peaks over his shoulder, glaring, anger seared into her veins. âTheon is more of a man youâll ever being - he is a loving, kind human being and has been through more shit than you can even imagine - he is strong and incredible and youâre a piece of shit.â
Sansa doesnât wait for Balonâs reaction. Instead, she storms out of the house, breathing heavily. She thinks Theon says something, does something - but he quickly follows her out to the front door.
Before either of them can speak, Alannys slips out the door. âTheon,â she says softly. Her gaze rests on her, though. âSansa - I canât apologize enough - â
Sansa shakes her head. âNo need.â Biting her lip, she debates saying anything further. Eventually⌠âIâm sorry if I made things worse.â The red tinge is fading, but her heart still races in her chest.
Alannys tilts her head. Itâs not a smile that fits on her lips, but something mixed with resignation and admiration. âYou didnât.â She looks to Theon, and thereâs no mistaking the love there. âSheâs special, Theon.â
Theon looks at her. No smile, completely serious, the sun and stars in his eyes. âI know.â
âDonât end up like me,â says Alannys and finally the sadness fully captures her face. Theon moves towards her but she shakes her head, forcing a smile. âIâll come to visit you soon. Be happy.â
Alannys steps forward, silently placing a hand to Theonâs cheek before studying her too. She squeezes Sansaâs free hand and leaves them there without another word.
Theon turns to her, gathering her in his arms as they move closer to their car in the driveway.
âIâm so sorry,â he whispers into her hair. âI knew this was a terrible idea - â
âYou have nothing to be sorry for,â says Sansa, watching his breaths as her heart calms down. âYour - that man - â she shakes her head, shakes away the anger rising again. Her eyes capture his - heâs sad, resigned, and Sansa holds his face. âYou know youâre none of that, right? Youâre Theon Greyjoy and I love you.â
His forehead rests on hers and a small smile curls on his lips. âI love you too.â The smile fades though. âWhat if - â
Sansa kisses him silent. âYou are nothing like him.â Her whispers coast over his lips and she wants to crawl under his skin and never let go. âYou donât treat me like he treats your mum; youâd never think less of your sister for who she loves.â Theon searches her eyes and Sansa kisses him again, lightly. âYou are nothing like him and you make me happy. Our marriage will be happy.â
The glint returns to Theonâs eyes and Sansa wants to capture it forever. âWeâre going to get married?â
Sansa grins. âEventually, yes. Iâm not letting you go.âÂ
His arms tighten around her, his lips lingering at her temple and she can feel his smirk. âThatâs my line.â
Sansa sighs into his embrace and Theon squeezes her tighter.Â
