Well, so far so good. Garnet was at least grateful for that much. Really, though, she knew she probably didn’t have to worry about talking with Peridot. Her friend usually was pretty happy to see her. A part of her did feel bad that she’d interrupted what would have been a meep morp session, but it sounded like Peridot hadn’t been making much headway there. Therefore it was fine.
“Too bad about your meep morp inspiration. I’m sure you’ll come up with something good for one soon, though,” she said. “And I’d love to sit. It’s probably going to be a bit of a long conversation.” Probably. The length all had to do with how well the conversation initially went.
After taking a seat on the offered spot beside Peridot, Garnet took a moment to collect her thoughts again. The issue was an old one. She would never have even thought of it again if she hadn’t been talking with Steven.
“I know this is a bit out of the blue. Steven and I were just talking earlier about how far all of us have come since we were dealing with the Cluster so long ago, That got me thinking about what happened on the moon base,” she explained. Her head ducked down a bit for a moment. Truthfully, she wasn’t even sure if Peridot held this against her. She didn’t seem to. That was partly why Garnet still wanted to cover the topic at all. She wanted to make sure things were okay.
“Specifically how I reacted to your mistake. Peridot, I... I overreacted back then. And I realized I never apologized for that,” she said. She lifted her head again and looked straight at Peridot, then raised one hand to remove her visor. In her heart, Garnet knew she should have apologized much sooner than this. Peridot deserved that, and yet... she’d never done it.
“You didn’t deserve to be on the receiving end of my lashing out. You made a mistake, yes, but... I should never have raised my hand against you for something like that. So even though it’s late, I wanted to say that I’m sorry.”
