Theo was sitting on the couch of the renovated Hale House as he watched his fellow young members of the pack get increasingly drunk on wolfsbane beer. There was a soft smirk on his lips as he watched Liam and Mason giggle to each other over something that was probably only funny to the two of them. It was nice, seeing Liam happy. Seeing the pack happy. They got so few moments like this, when they could sit there and let loose. He thinks that’s why Scott had asked Derek if they could hold this pack party at the rebuilt Hale House.

Theo’s eyes roved over Liam’s face, taking in the details of his happiness. He wanted to memorize what it looked like, what it smelled like, what it made him feel to see.

“You know, you could go over there and have fun with them,” Stiles said, plopping down on the couch beside Theo. “You don’t have to sit in the corner all by yourself.”

“I’m perfectly happy in my corner,” Theo retorted, tearing his eyes off Liam for only a second to acknowledge Stiles. “Plus, they don’t need me. They’re having fun as is.”

Stiles sighed. “You’re just as much a part of this pack as they are, dickwad. You can go join them.” Still, Stiles got comfortable next to Theo and folded his hands over his stomach knowing that Theo wasn’t going to move. “So, how’s school going?”

Theo let Stiles distract him and he launched into an explanation of his classes, keeping one eye on Liam as he talked— something Stiles noticed with quiet amusement.

Theo was in the middle of explaining one of his projects when Liam laughed loudly across the room, the sound bright and happy, and Theo found himself trailing off in his sentence.

“Earth to Theo,” Stiles chuckled, waving a hand in front of Theo’s face.

Theo shook his head, snapping himself out of it. “Sorry, what were you saying?”

“You were the one talking,” Stiles said, amusement colouring his tone.

“Shit,” Theo muttered, his cheeks burning as he cleared his throat. “Sorry, I lost my train of thought.”

Theo shrugged on his jacket with a yawn.

“You’re not staying?” Liam called from the couch, disappointment in his voice.

“Nah,” Theo replied, shifting from foot to foot, uncomfortable now that attention was on him. There was a sick irony to that, before all he wanted was the attention, the power, all eyes on him. Now it made him uncomfortable, made his skin itch when people looked at him for too long. “I’m kind of tired.”

“Aw, come on,” Liam pouted. “You should join us! Just once.”
