Peacekeepers are assholes
It saves the tributes
Less People Die AU where Lamina stops Brandy from murdering Arachne by offering her food. They strike up a mini alliance. Tanner and Treech are, naturally, drawn into this little team. Because of this, they stick together while touring the arena. Since theyâre all together with their mentors they stick a little closer to the entrance while discussing strategy when the bombs go off. Brandy snaps out of it first and realizes the peacekeepers are still down. She drags Tanner to his feet and calls out to Lamina and Treech, who are helping their mentors. The tributes from 1 and 2 are also starting to get up. This is their opportunity.
They run
Superhero AU because why not honestly. Iâm back on the lumberhouse train and had an idea for a true drama hijinx goldmine:
Coral, Tanner, and Brandy are three of the most powerful supervillains in the world. Lucy Gray, Lamina, and Reaper are heroes trying to foil the plans of them and other bad guys. Other characters make appearances but Iâm not sure what to make them exactly. Now, all of them have civilian identities, and Treech is Laminaâs childhood friend who is completely out of the loop regarding her secret superhero life. While Lamina knows he could and would help her in valuable ways, the risk to his life weighs more heavily than the potential aid he could give. This attempt to keep him out of the superhero business is⌠unsuccessful.
Somehow, Tanner starts dating Treech in civilian identity. Once he and Lamina meet it takes them both less than a minute to clock exactly who the other person is, but neither of them can do anything because that would upset Treech. So theyâre stuck shooting each other covert glares and suspicious side eyes while Treech remains blissfully ignorant. Shenanigans ensue.
Just curious but are vipsania and treech your favourite mentor and tribute dynamic to analyse and headcanon for ?
Yes đĽ°
Treech is my favorite tribute because Snow calls him an âunknownâ but thereâs still so much to read into, especially in the books. Swinging his feet on the scoreboard, choosing to not fight until Laminaâs death (which implies it kind of broke something in him to me), and also he juggles walnuts in the zoo so he might be some kind of performer. And Iâm a theater nerd so of course I like him. My favorite character overall is Lucy Gray and part of it is how sheâs a performer (but honestly sheâs just a good, well written character). Also, district 7 is my favorite district and I wish we knew more about it. So yeah, Treechâs relationship with his mentor is naturally something I like exploring.

I think I managed to come up with an idea on how the tributes can escape . In the movie (just in case it's different in the book) the zoo enclosure doesn't have a roof . I was wondering if maybe they could've stood on each other's shoulders until one of them manages to get on the other side of the enclosure and get the others out, so here is how this can go, during the late first night jessup and Marcus and reaper let sheaf and treech and one of the district 3 kids stand on their shoulders and the 3 of them jump onto the other side of the enclosure (treech and sheaf are chosen Bec of their agility and only one of the d3 kids so that they can hack the cameras and remove any footage of them) and manage to get out. The trio then keep sneaking around and search until they find a ladder or a rope and come back to the zoo to get their fellow tributes and give it to them to climb until the last one climbs out.
Or a second idea I had is that maybe they pull a toy story 3 escape plan where a few tributes pretend to be arguing and fighting until the peacekeepers get so annoyed with it they open the zoo cage to force them to shut up to Wich as soon as they do that they get knocked out hard by the rest of the tributes then they take their guns . Then reaper carries dill and all of them run as fast as they can
Either way the next day the capitol citizens and mentors are dumbfounded when they see the zoo cage empty and gaul is pulling her hair out and then it's the usual drill, the kids are on the run, treech gathers supplies they Bond and work together something something something found family
I am not sure if either of those are logical one of them depends on the peacekeepers not being present during the night and the second is literally pulled out from a cartoon so not sure how much this can be implemented in a (MOSTLY) semi realistic setting like the HG but here it is đ
I think they could work but I have a few notes if you donât mind! Before we start real quick: why did no one in the movie just climb the bars of the enclosure? Even if they were smooth (which doesnât seem like itâs the case) itâs not terribly difficult to climb bars if you have others to use as stepping points. The movieâs attention to detail is great in some places and absolutely atrocious in others.
Everyoneâs always talking about TreeMina but when I confirm itâs endgame in my fic suddenly all of you disappear :/
Iâm listening to Whoâs Afraid Of Little Old Me? and it fits so well with the Hunger Games. And itâs now the anthem of all the Fix-It AUâs where the tributes save themselves (Electric Rebels who?). Iâll add a new one just for funsies:
Lucy Gray and Treech are both seen performing in the zoo for food by a band and a theater group (or circus? If thatâs more your vibe) respectively, and those groups need new members. After talking to the two under the guise of bringing food and water, the decision is made to ask them to join. They at first wanna scout the two after a hypothetical victory before realizing thereâs no way to be certain theyâll survive and having thoughts about the games. They decide to help the two escape and collaborate once they realize they have shared goals. At first Treech and Lucy Gray are against it, but after reassurances they can go home whenever they want with the groupsâ parentsâ connections and a promise to get all the tributes out, itâs decided.
The tributes do most of the work, not fully trusting this group, but they get the supplies they need and some handy information. Itâs easy to fake their deaths, and the band and theater/circus group manage to make an exit for the tributes to leave through without being spotted. Through connections, all tributes find a place in the Capitol to blend into. A new name and a makeover for everyone later, they find jobs and houses and build families of their own while going home frequently to be with their loved ones back in the districts.
Lucy Gray and Treech become incredibly prominent celebrities, hiding their identities without plastic surgery. With colored hair and makeup and the magic of time, their old identities fade to everyone but their closest friends and family. With their newfound power and influence, they help new tributes escape the games until they have enough sway to end them entirely and make life in the districts better. All tributes become famed in their respective industries, even when everyone forgets about the 10th hunger games. Footage erased, the days that started all this change are lost to time, but the tributes? Theyâre never forgotten, though nobody but them realizes.
This all started by me listening to the last verse from Whoâs Afraid Of Little Old Me? (starting at the last âSo I leap from the gallowsâŚâ) and imagining Treech going on stage with his artist name for the first time, sparkly golden curled extensions in his hair and wearing an intricate, fancy stage outfit as the curtains open, spotlights shining down on him.
