Processes in John's (Malevolent) design (for me, oh my goodness)
WHY ARE THEY SO DAMN DIFFICULT?? GODS. Okay, so-- I've been working on my design for about an actual year now, dude. It's difficult! It really fucking is. When I had first heard him in Part 1, with no clue who he'd been and honestly just saw the podcast name somewhere and thought 'why not?', I imagined him with long black hair, no properly visible eyes, smoked amber skin, a coat of some sort. After finding out he was the King in Yellow, did some research, took a break from the podcast because I got distracted with a mind devouring interest in the King in Yellow book and then educated myself in HP Lovecraft THEN finally came back to the podcast-- which, by the way, helped so so much in the long run-- I imagined his coat to be long and yellow, one main button near the top with the yellow sign engraved in it, a scarf around the coat that he pulls off on occasion when he pleases, long black hair still there but now more disheveled, and the same skin because it went well this the other colors. His eyes were visible through a hidden black on his face, yellow glowing through that shadow. Just below it, the bottom half of his face was a white mask decorated in light grays and golds that would reflect their designs in the light. Also. He's barefoot, he has been from the start, I can't help it, but it changes later ("NEVER TRUST A MAN WITH NO SHOES" theme returns) (I'll draw all'a'this later) By the end of season 3, I thought of him to have a broken crown seen like a halo, a shadow that looks like the silhouette of the KiY. I started wanting to see him more in a way that shows his progression from the beginning, small details that show he's changed but will always be "The King" like many have said and even he now has admitted. I also gave him wing tip dress shoes, cause they seemed to fit. Overall, now his design changes quite a bit. Constantly, I switch between something more humane and more like the King, but I really enjoy each. I like to think he's a bit inconsistent, always changing. what an identity crisis.
Should I draw him? -- DAMNIT BRO. Okay, so I'm listening to Part 20, "The King" again, I HAVE CRIED THRICE. Damn you Arthur Lester
