So far, so good! One of the bobbins is a little snug (I may sand the inside edge with sandpaper wrapped around a pencil or knitting needle) but I have two #akerworks bobbins on order to try as well. It treadles and feels like a full-size wheel! The treadles, instead of being attached to the wheel, run on crankshafts (shown in 2nd photo). I need to try padding a bobbin to get #froghair thin. #majacraftlittlegem #thewoolery #spinnersofinstagram

I bought three Butterfly Girl Designs at #thewoolery today. They are black, gray, blue, and sparkly. I'll be running them through my drum carder to make them a bit more uniform. I'm going to be preaching to the choir a bit but I need to demonstrate why I don't knit for money. You can see that this batt cost $28 and I bought 3. I want to knit a lace weight cardigan with lots of sparkle. With tax, this was almost $90 and it's not even yarn yet. I still have many, many hours of knitting and spinning ahead of me to get the sweater I want. I often have people ask me to knit them things because they are under the impression that it's cheaper than buying a store bought garment. It's not. I don't knit because I'm frugal. I have a few grand invested in wheels and fiber equipment. I knit and spin because it's a passion of mine. I like the creative aspect of it. And I only gift handknits and handspun yarn to people I think will appreciate it and care for it properly. #spinning #spinnersofinstagram #knitting #knittersofinstagram

Have you visited, in person or online, The Woolery? I live on the other side of the country, but I have yet to find a source that is as thorough and well-priced for what I need as this company. Now that I have Jim Hockett's hand loom kit, I can take my weaving with me wherever I go. My vision is to make a woolen quilt of my handspun yarn. This is square one. Let's see how far I can take this project.
